Spotted a Six-spotted Tiger Beetle (Cicindela sexguttata) eating an ant in my garden. These metallic green beetles are efficient predators—larvae wait in burrows to ambush prey, while adults chase down insects on the move. Harmless to humans, and great for natural pest control.

Specimen was captured in July 1996 in the Ardennes region, France.

I've used the focus-stack technique, DIY hardware only (a Raspberry HQ cam controlled by a Raspberry Pi 3, an old Pentax-m 50mm f1.7 lens, some extension tubes, and a $30 linear rail from Aliexpress)

Heute an meiner neusten Entdeckung unterwegs gewesen, um 11Uhr bei (noch) 31°C. Bei dem Sonnenlicht war Handyfotografie fast unmöglich.
Dachte erst, es seien Fliegen, was da immer vor mir aufflog, um sich 5m weiter wieder nieder zu lassen. Bei genauerem Hinsehen den Kupferfarbenen #Sandlaufkäfer #Cicindela hybrida ausgemacht.
Sehr hübsche Tiere.

Heute noch einmal einen #Sandlaufkäfer erwischt, diesmal etwas schärfer. Er hielt auch einen Augenblick still... 🤗
