Well this is quite disturbing information I just found out about. #Northview Community #Church is #antiLGBTQ. And this really hits hard cause I actually know family members that attend this church. Tonight in #therapy we talked about Religious Trauma Syndrome (#RTS). It was a *rough* session. Rough.
I've been going to therapy every week for 3 years now, peeling away layers and digging deep. Tonight my shovel hit something solid: The Church. Specifically, the evangelical church. The source of emotional vacancy in our family.
Grief. Anger. Trauma. Unacknowledged harm on so many levels.
Tonight was rough. Goddamn.
