Cronos mom!

Her original design, not seen in the sprite, is actually kind of buff. I loved that. Single mom, lives far away from the city, raising a for sure rascal and she has to handle all of that shit on her own. I also LOVED presenting every party member to her whenever you return home, such a cool way to build character!

So when it comes to #Magus and his redesign I've gone both ways. My initial idea is the one on the left. As the first major antagonist making him look more adult seem fitting, adding the demon horns seems like something he would do, its all a bit Marilyn Manson so this design is not gonna be for everybody. The 2nd design is a bit closer to the source, more magical, more mysterious, but also more busy

Regarding #Ayla I also really loved the eating contest she has with #Crono its one of those dumb, character building moments that can so easily establish a character and you don't even have to come up with a crazy gameplay mechanic to make it work. Bonus shot of Kino in the background too!

For #Ayla I knew I wanted darker skin, I also wanted darker hair but the blonde worked better in terms of contrast sooo I thought maybe some different colored streaks? Maybe as tribal leader she gets to do that, be more flamboyant and all that. Dropped the club, she doesn't need it, she needs to look like she can wreck house all by herself, hence the muscles :blobcoffee:

I LOVED the first time you get to the future in #ChronoTrigger and run into the lifeless husk that is Robo's shell. He's basically a perfect character, I love him. One of Toriyamas best designs ever. The characters also react how you'd expect them to, with Marle kind of freaking out and Lucca showing the right amount of curiosity but, you know, thats a lot of rats.

As I get more designs done in the #ChronoTriggerReConcept project I like to get some spot illustrations done, that was some of my favorite part of browsing the manual on the original game.

Here is #Crono at home, developing his fighting style and technique. Remember that he's self taught so you gotta do what you gotta do. For obvious reasons he is using the wooden sword, as this is depicting the early game.

#Frog is a master swordsman and kind of an aspirational character for #Crono. Making him look more ragged and giving him a #Masamune sword that, at least in the looks department, may in fact cut a mountain in two are two important factors I wanted to get across. Adding a bit more armor to really push the medieval time period and to show that he's not given up on being a human just yet.

#Marle is running away from home, so I imagine her trying a little harder to pass off as a local but not doing a great job, that includes a rushed hair recolor and not realizing she shouldn't leave the castle with all that jewelry on 😅

I wanted to make sure the pendant was more visible and while Toriyama has used this design in CT, #DragonBall and Dragon Quest III, its still pretty timeless so no need to change much.
