CW: Chronic illness, life update
So after 25 years (as long as I remember) of intermittent knee pain and 15 years after having been told that everything was alright after a quick radiography, I built up enough courage to talk about it to my amazing GP.
Turns out, I have all clinical symptoms of a Patellofemoral pain syndrome, a simple but well done radiography can confirm the diagnostic. I also learnt that my knees are hypermobile...If this is confirmed, there's no treatment except building-up some extra muscles with a physiotherapist.
So thanks for my amazing GP and fuck the former doctors that made me scared of talking about it ever again while when it flares up, I can barely climb a flight of stairs or sit down on the floor

This made my Twitter community all the more important to me because I am often home alone and there were many others there in similar situations and it was good for company and support. I've always been someone who likes to get stuck in. A year ago I was still volunteering across 4 different non-profits, and providing services pro bono to several others. Chronic illness has meant I have to take a step back. I just don't have the energy - but I still have the ambition. I need help re-routing my efforts into low energy, but high impact activity. Any thoughts? I favor environmental and social justice causes, particularly around healthcare.

CompanionshipWe all need this and especially when we are sick. There were so many mutual aid groups set up to help each other early in pandemic but what about now? People are still getting sick and if living on their own increasingly isolated. What help is there to provide those 3 C's?
