  1. Although a low level of #Neanderthal ancestry is present in most #humans, the Neanderthal genes are not uniformly distributed.

A handful of regions in the #autosome are entirely devoid of such ancestry in essentially all living humans, and the X #chromosome is strongly depleted across its sequence.

These patterns are most consistent with Neanderthal contributions to human populations being heavily male biased.

The interbreeding between the two groups was predominantly that of male Neanderthals with females of the anatomically modern human population.

  2. #KnowledgeByte: The Y #Chromosome is shrinking and losing genes over millions of years, a process called genetic degeneration, with estimates suggesting it could vanish in 10-11 million years.

  3. Dual pathways found for centromere specification, ensuring accurate chromosome segregation

Despite the immense amount of genetic material present in each cell, around three billion base pairs in humans,…

  4. So it should be noted that a new definition is needed — NeanderthaL is asking for it.

And not only him: consider the rare cases of fertile mules, rare but not conceptually marginal.

In the published document an extreme case is mentioned: an unicorn.
Suppose it is born among horses — could donkeys inherit it too?
    And zebras?

    What do you think?

  5. #KnowledgeByte: The Y #Chromosome plays a crucial role in determining the sex of a baby.

It is also very important to study the genetic history of different populations and the evolutionary history of mammals and to understand the process of sex determination.

By tracing maternal and paternal inheritance without parental DNA, scientists have mapped dozens of parent-specific genetic effects, uncovering…

  7. Researchers found that compared with the group taking the placebo, those taking vitamin D supplements had reduced telomere shortening over four years. Omega-3 fatty acid supplementation, on the other hand, had no obvious effect on telomere length.
