He was accused of deliberately publishing candid photos of political celebrities to make them look bad.
He replied that of course he didn't airbrush these photos because he doesn't do that, has never done that. This is journalism. He's doing what photojournalists do.

Anderson (b 1970; joined Magnum in 2005) was born in Canada and grew up in west Texas. In 2000, on assignment for the New York Times Magazine, he boarded a small wooden boat with 44 Haitians trying to sail to America. The boat sank in the Caribbean. The photographs received the Robert Capa Gold Medal and marked the beginning of a 10 year period as a contract photographer for Newsweek Magazine and National Geographic Magazine. In 2011 he became New York Magazine’s first ever Photographer in Residence.
Comme vous le verrez sur le web (The Agents), il fait « de tout » : pub, mode, sport, reportage…La force de cette photo de la statue de la Liberté vient de la lumière du soleil à ce moment précis, et de l’idée d’y insérer une présence humaine. La grâce d’un instant + une idée de cadre > une image. Même les saletés sur la vitre contribuent à la photo.
