The Vienna Christmas Concert 2023 had a section with a small rhythmic group playing the cello, some form of maracas, and what seems to be a form of hammered dulcimer (cimbalom / hacking board / santur / salterio). Not only did they hammer the stringed board, but also used a bow rather percussively. Very cool.

Behind the scenes pictures from the preparations for yesterday’s concert—our first of this year’s season. 🎶 God is good, and we had a ball singing about his coming into our world at Christmas, and in the small moments of our daily lives.

Aleteia has a lovely article on our Christmas concerts on their front page today.
"For decades, the Daughters of St. Paul have been putting on Christmas concerts to ring in the season of peace and joy. The shows bring together the sisters’ devout Catholic faith, cheerful demeanor, and impeccable singing voices to create a Christmas spectacular that’s fun for the whole family."

So just over a week to go before I make a fool of myself with a solo rendition of Tom Lehre's "Christmas Carol".
Others should be good....

This weekend I’m on tour with my sisters doing Christmas concerts. It has been two years since we’ve done a live #ConcertTour. It’s a lot of practice and prep, but the end result is so worth it!
Here’s a short clip of our opening number: O Come O Come Emanuel. W footage from performances (including last night’s) as well as practice sessions.
Enjoy! 🎶🙏⭐️

Did I mention that I'm a member of our concert choir this year?
Nope?
Well, let me rectify that right now!
The #MediaNuns have been doing Christmas concerts for over 25 years. I've been in many of them down the years—but for the last few years I was not able to be part of the group. Then COVID hit and we didn't tour.
Not that COVID is gone, but thanks to advances in medicine, we're able to start small. This year we'll only be giving two full-blown concerts: One here in Boston on Friday, Dec 9 at 7PM and one in Charleston SC on Sunday, Dec 11 at 3PM.
