#Troparion — Tone 4
Your holy martyrs O Lord, / through their sufferings have received incorruptible crowns from You, our God. / For having Your strength, they laid low their adversaries, / and shattered the powerless boldness of demons. / Through their intercessions, save our souls!

Israel has bombed one of the oldest Orthodox churches in the world, St. Porphyrios in Gaza. It was filled with Christian and Muslim refugees sheltering from raids. Mainly women and children.

! have seen this quote multiple times today:
“A psalm implies serenity of soul; it is the author of peace, which calms bewildering and seething thoughts. For it softens the wrath of the soul, and what is unbridled it chastens.”

O joyful light of the holy glory of the immortal Father, the heavenly, holy, blessed Jesus Christ. Now that we have reached the setting of the sun and behold the evening light, we sing to God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. It is fitting at all times to praise you with cheerful voices, O Son of God, the Giver of life. Behold, the world sings your glory.
O Lord, keep us this evening without sin. Blessed are you, O Lord, God of our fathers, and praised and glorified is your name to the ages. Amen. O Lord, let your mercy be upon us for we have set our hope in you. Blessed are you, O Lord, teach me your commandments. Blessed are you, Master, grant me understanding of your commandments. Blessed are you, Holy One, enlighten me with your commandments. Lord your mercy is forever. Do not despise the works of your hands. To you is due praise, to you is due song, to you is due glory, to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and forever and to the ages of ages. Amen.#Christianity #Vespers #EveningPrayer #ChristianPrayer #ChristianOrthodoxy #OrthodoxChristianity

There are three things that impel us towards what is holy: natural instincts, angelic powers and probity of intention. Natural instincts impel us when, for example, we do to others what we would wish them to do to us (cf. Luke 6:31), or when we see someone suffering deprivation or in need and naturally feel compassion. Angelic powers impel us when, being ourselves impelled to something worthwhile, we find we are providentially helped and guided. We are impelled by probity of intention when, discriminating between good and evil, we choose the good.

With the rivers of your tears, you have made the barren desert fertile. Through sighs of sorrow from deep within you, your labors have borne fruit a hundred-fold. By your miracles you have become a light, shining upon the world. O Chariton, our Holy Father, pray to Christ our God, to save our souls.

Your Martyrs, O Lord, were worthily awarded by You * the crowns of incorruption, in that they contested for You our immortal God. * Since they possessed Your power, they defeated the tyrants, * dashing the demons' powerless displays of defiance. * O Christ God, at their fervent entreaties, save our souls. #Christianity #ChristianOrthodoxy #OrthodoxChristianity

The Conception of St. John the Baptist
September 23 #ChristianFeastDayThis came to pass fifteen months before the birth of Christ, after the vision of the Angel that Zacharias, the father of the Forerunner, saw in the Temple while he executed the priest's office in the order of his course during the feast of the Tabernacles, as tradition bears witness. In this vision, the Archangel Gabriel appeared to Zacharias and said to him, "Thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elizabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John" (Luke 1:13). Knowing that Elizabeth was barren, and that both he and she were elderly, Zacharias did not believe what the Angel told him, although he had before him the example of Abraham and Sarah, of Hannah, mother of the Prophet Samuel, and of other barren women in Israel who gave birth by the power of God. Hence, he was condemned by the Archangel to remain speechless until the fulfilment of these words in their season, which also came to pass (Luke 1:7-24).

#StCatherine the Great Martyr of Sinai in the First Tone
Let us praise now with hymns the distinguished bride of Christ, and the protectress of Sinai, our assistance in need, and our comforting support, godly Katherine. For she has brilliantly made mute the unrighteous ones of wit, by the power of the Holy Spirit, and being crowned as a martyr, she pleads on our behalf for God's great mercy.

Resurrectional #Apolytikion in the Plagal First Tone
Let us worship the Word, O ye faithful, praising Him that with the Father and the Spirit is co-beginningless God, Who was born of a pure Virgin that we all be saved; for He was pleased to mount the Cross in the flesh that He assumed, accepting thus to endure death. And by His glorious rising, He also willed to resurrect the dead.

The Lord says to His disciples, 'Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven' (Matt. 5:16). He does not say this to urge them to show off, but to urge them to organize their lives as is pleasing to God. Just as light effortlessly attracts people's gaze, so a way of life pleasing to God draws their minds along with their eyes. We do not praise the air which shares in the brilliance of the sunlight, but the sun which is the source of this brilliance and bestows it on us. Even if we do praise the air for its brightness, we praise the sun much more. So it is when someone makes the brilliance of the Sun of righteousness (Mal. 4:2) visible through his virtuous deeds. As soon as anyone looks at him, they are immediately led towards the glory of the Father in heaven of Christ, the Sun of righteousness.

O Christ our God, who at all times and at every hour is worshipped and glorified both in heaven and on earth, Who is long suffering, Who is all-merciful, Who is ever-compassionate, Who loves the just, and Who shows mercy to the sinners, Who calls all to salvation through the promise of good things to come. The same Lord, receive at this time our supplications and direct our lives according to Your commandments. Sanctify our souls; purify our bodies; set our thoughts straight; cleanse our thoughts; and deliver us from all distress, evil, and grief. Surround us with Your holy Angels, so that guided and guarded by them we may attain to the unity of the faith, and to the comprehension of Your ineffable glory; for You are blessed, to the ages of ages. Amen.
Lord, have mercy. (3)
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, now and ever, and to the ages of ages. Amen.
More honorable than the Cherubim, and more glorious beyond compare than the Seraphim; without defilement you gave birth to God the Word, you who are truly the Theotokos, we magnify you.
Through the prayers of our holy fathers, Lord Jesus Christ our God have mercy on us and save us. Amen.

Behold, the Bridegroom comes at midnight; and blessed is that servant whom He shall find watching, but unworthy is he whom He shall find heedless. Beware, therefore, O my soul, lest you be weighed down with sleep, lest you be given up to death, and be shut out from the kingdom. But rouse yourself and cry: "Holy, Holy, Holy are You O God; through the Theotokos have mercy on us.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
Meditating on that fearful day, O my soul, watch, keep your lamp alight and filled with oil; for you do not know when the voice shall come to you saying: "Behold the Bridegroom."Beware, therefore, O my soul, lest You fall into slumber and be left outside, knocking, as were the five virgins; but wakefully watch, that You may come to meet Christ with good oil, and He shall bestow upon you the divine chamber of His glory.
Now and ever, and to the ages of ages. Amen.
O Virgin Theotokos, the unassailable wall and confirmation of salvation, we supplicate you: destroy the counsels of the enemies, change the sorrows of your people into joy, protect your city, be the ally of rulers, encourage all who are yours, strengthen your faithful ones, and pray for the peace of the world; for you, O Theotokos, are our hope.
Lord, have mercy. (Say 40 times can be in many diff languages instead of 40 the same )

I’ve been thinking of the virgin martyr saint Kyriake since yesterday for her feast day. I went to Divine Liturgy at the Greek Orthodox Church and it was a such a beautiful service. I also think of John the Baptist when I think of her because she was also beheaded in the end. I am going to think of her tomorrow as well because she was born on a Sunday which is why her name is kyriaki! I am so thankful to her for her sacrifice and intercessions and she, along with John the Baptist, strengthen my faith in love and truth for Christ our Lord so much #GreekOrthodox #Christianity #OrthodoxChristianity #ChristianOrthodoxy #ChristianSaint

O Sovereign Lady and Queen, help and defend all of us who in troubles and trials, in pain and burdened with many sins, stand before thy most pure icon in thy presence, and pray to thee with compunction of soul, contrition of heart, and with tears, and who have unflagging hope in thee. Grant to all what is good for us, deliverance from all evil, and save us all, O Virgin Theotokos, for thou art a divine protection to thy servants.
