The unified defense of Joab and Abishai demonstrates the power of strategic brotherhood, showing how victory is secured when leaders vow to "come and help" (2 Samuel 10:11 NKJV) one another in times of crisis.

The physical reality of human corruption reminds us to remain vigilant, as the adversary "walks about like a roaring lion" (1 Peter 5:8 NKJV) through various forms of earthly devastation.

Biblical leadership should be reserved for the reluctant, as God seeks those who do not boast but realize that "base things of the world... God has chosen" (1 Corinthians 1:28 NKJV) to fulfill His purpose.

Saul’s mission was authorized by the high priest to bring believers "bound to Jerusalem" (Acts 9:2 NKJV), proving that human authority often tries to chain the Gospel.

The story of Cain and Abel proves that "sin lies at the door" (Genesis 4:7) when we allow resentment to transform a brotherly bond into a "Sacrifice" of wrath.

Solomon’s downfall proves that even the wisest leader can fail when "his heart was not loyal to the Lord" (1 Kings 11:4), turning divine blessings into empty "striving after wind."

Thomas Goodwin, English Puritan, says the philosophy of “every man for himself” is mere self-love and the mark of an unregenerate man. It’s the value system of the Roman Empire.
Do we excuse the actions of individuals or nations as long as they can claim were done in self-interest, or had the value system of Cain?
How can we forgive others and truly be our “brother’s keeper”?

Story Time:
I taught kid's #SundaySchool yesterday & we talked about David & Goliath.
My #Bible translation (#NRSV) says Goliath was 6 cubits, with has a note saying other translations say 4. That puts Goliath between 6 & 9 feet tall.
I told my kids for comparison that Goliath would be about Shaq's height. Which then led to a rabbit hole of pics for my 11 year old of #Shaq side by side with other people.
Kids are fun.
