  2. "Of course there have always been Christians in Silicon Valley; they just knew better than to advertise their faith. This is to say: The Christians were effectively in hiding. And one specific place they were hiding was, according to Tan, on a spreadsheet made up of Christians in tech, which was passed around for years among a dozen or so of the techno faithful. One of them was Trae Stephens, cofounder of the defense tech company Anduril and a partner at Founders Fund, the venture capital firm cofounded by Peter Thiel. Stephens, like Tan, has lately been speaking publicly about his faith in the context of Silicon Valley. He has hosted a Bible study reflecting on the teachings of René Girard, a French philosopher popular in certain libertarian-leaning tech circles; spoken at his church about the connection between Christianity and innovation; and written, in what seems a slightly contorted interpretation of the gospel, about how basic venture investing principles are an exemplar of divine forgiveness."

  3. "As the Bannon-Musk feud suggests, these two worldviews look to be incompatible — a rift at the heart of the MAGA universe based on fundamental disagreements about humanity, God and our future. If this rift were to grow, it could potentially undermine the entire movement. But what if these worldviews are more similar than they initially appear? What if they were to merge into a single syncretistic vision of the future, founded on utopian fantasies of paradise made possible by advanced technologies like AI? That is, in fact, already happening: MAGA traditionalists are embracing elements of transhumanism, while some MAGA transhumanists are turning to Christianity.
    (...)
The similarities between these worldviews are striking. They share the conviction that we are in the end times; the promises of resurrection, immortality and perfect happiness in a heavenly otherworld; and the belief in a superintelligent being whose actions will determine the course of cosmic history. Nonetheless, there remain some nontrivial differences: for example, transhumanists invert the traditional relation between God and humanity. They say that we will create God, and hence be his parents, whereas Christians say that God created us, and we are his children."

  5. Doug Wilson is an Idaho-based Christian nationalist pastor who co-founded a denomination called the Communion of Reformed Evangelical Churches, and co-authored a book which whitewashed slavery as a “relationship built upon mutual affection and confidence.” Pete Hegseth, Trump’s nominee for Secretary of Defense, belongs to a CREC church.

In the inaugural episode of an online show called Of Flames and Crowns, Wilson told the host, Lennox Kalifungwa, that egalitarianism “comes from the devil.” The episode, titled “Why Some Cultures are Superior to Others,” was uploaded to the YouTube channel of New Saint Andrews College, a private Christian college which describes Wilson as a “founding board member.”
