"One was a survey of [3500] patients over in Germany, a new study showing medical cannabis appears to help people reduce their other medications; this was opioid, sleeping pills and antidepressants ... patients were able reduce the use of [other] prescription drugs by 85% ... 60% stopped their use of other prescription medications completely."

"What it means is, you can be stopped at any time, [to] screen the driver, they say, for the presence of drugs. They're saying this will be a quick tongue swipe, taking just a few minutes, and that in itself is a bit of a hint. Since when does a 'quick tongue swipe' take 'just a few minutes'. So there's a bit more to it than that, presumably."

"Chris Bishop, minister in charge of these things now, he's in this RNZ article saying, 'oh no don't be concerned, it's all set to just measure recent use'."

Which as explained in this podcast, in detail, is 100% bollox.
I'm not sure which RNZ article Fowlie means. But assuming this is true, either Bishop (tobacco industry lobbyist) doesn't know what he's talking about, or he's blatantly lying to the public.

Chris Fowlie discusses the use of hemp to replace the plastic component of wool carpet, and weed mats in the Manawatu Gorge;
https://feeds.95bfm.com/link/22115/17204660/marijuana-media-with-chris-fowlie-6-november-2025I wonder if hemp could be used to make biodegradable hay bail wrap for farms, to replace the huge amount of soft plastic they use every year.

"A large federally-funded study coming out of [US]America, published in Nature, 'marijuana users have enhanced cognitive abilities' ... [they] analysed brain imaging and cognitive data, from 37929 people. The cannabis consumers consistently outperformed the non-users in the cognitive tests. They had brain network characteristics typically associated with younger brains."

#ChrisFowlie goes all through a list of false positives that can occur with the government's proposed roadside drug testing tech;
"Speaking of going to the dentist, if you have some lidocaine you'll test positive for cocaine. If you're on a painkiller of some sort, you'll test positive for heroin. If you're on Ritalin you'll test positive for meth."

"Join your union, because there's more support through the union, and it was of course the unions that took on Air NZ and got that Supreme Court case."

Chris is referring to a case discussed earlier in the segment, where the court ruled that mandated drug testing is an invasion of privacy, and only justified in the workplace in very specific safety situations.

https://feeds.95bfm.com/link/22115/16871366/marijuana-media-thanks-to-the-hempstore-31st-october-2024Just to put that in context, that's enough to pay 20 people to work fulltime for 3 years, at $100 an hour. This is the kind of public money sloshing around. Seems like you just need to be in the right place at the right time, or maybe know the right people ...

"Simply put, the #CHOISE model ... promotes social equity by using a points-based licencing system to achieve positive outcomes such as retaining economic benefits onshore, supporting ethical local businesses, and righting previous wrongs. You can read all the detail on the choise.nz website."

"Simply put, the #CHOISE model allows hemp to be part of the medical and adult-use cannabis supply chains, driving down costs and putting NZ on a level playing field with other countries; it creates opportunity by providing economic benefits and removing barriers to going legal; it directs investment – generated from sales levies – into local communities and services that are most needed ... You can read all the detail on the choise.nz website."
