  1. Fun to find out they were thinking of crediting Chloë for all departments, like lighting, hair, makeup, wardrobe, grip. For over two weeks they shot scenes with her in a cramped space where they couldn't do these things, so Chloë had to do it herself.

Less fun if you realise she's claustrophobic...

  2. Wow... Chloë takes being the lead in a film to a whole new level. So much about this film that I can't say because of spoilers. Gender preconceptions are a main theme I guess, both misogyny in institutions like the military, but gender stereotypes in films as well. That ending is probably the most powerful thing ever in a film, never seen before, but we can't mention it...

  3. Here we go with Shadow in the Cloud. It's one of two recent films with Chloë Grace Moretz as lead that I haven't seen yet and I'm rectifying it now.

  4. My haul for today:

The haul of yesterday actually, arriving piecemeal today with stragglers later this week.

It's been too long that I've seen a new film with Chloë Grace Moretz...

  5. Rewatching Texas Killing Fields with Chloë Grace Moretz on Netflix because it’s one of the many films they’re removing this month and that’s just not right. I shouldn’t complain because I have it on dvd; streaming resolution tends to be better than dvd though.

In an extra on the dvd the writer/director was telling about them casting Chloë’s role and being frustrated that actress after actress came in and performed it like it was written, with the director starting to realise that what she had written was not exactly what she had meant. She couldn’t really explain what she meant though and started to doubt her abilities as a writer. Then 15yo Chloë came in, gave her own interpretation of the role and the director went like yes, that’s what I meant! I know that’s not what I wrote but it is what I meant. Then this young girl and the director had a long talk about the story.

Really good actresses are not only defined by their skill doing lines. It’s also about understanding, observing, interpreting, giving your own take on things. And Chloë Grace Moretz was that already at a very young age.
