  1. Ah dear Asterius, you could have done so much better than Theseus.
I've always perceived loads of passive-aggressiveness in ancient Greeks coming out with the coolest and kinkiest monsters, then having the hero of the story kill them.

  3. CW: Asterius from the Hades franchise powerposing in front of the camera while displaying a bullish erection.

Asterius ready to turn Theseus in the cuckest of the cucks. He will shed off some of his very restrained manners, but he will keep snorting all the way. #rickleone #asterius #minotaur #horns #nosering #chiton

  13. 🌊🐚 Scientists teamed up with YouTuber Ze Frank to let the public name a bizarre new species of deep-sea #chiton found over 5,000 meters down.

The winner? Ferreiraella populi – the "chiton of the people." The strange #mollusk lives exclusively on sunken wood and carries a tiny community of worms near its tail.

  15. Another 2024 print for #insertAnInvert: made for the #InsertAnInvert2024 prompt is crawler, about shellfish who can drag themselves over surface like the spectacularly coloured lined chitons (Tonicella lineata), beautiful, tiny marine mollusc of the North Pacific. I don’t usually make reduction prints but I think I might otherwise loose my mind trying to capture the complex patterns.

  17. @alcootatooter also and just for good measure :awesome: #wildoz
"There are about 1000 species of #Chiton worldwide, Australia has about 150 species and 90% of these are native to #Australia. Most species are quite small (between 2 and 5 cm long). The largest rarely exceed 30 cm. All chitons are marine living, in cold water and in the tropics, mostly in #intertidal or #subtidal zones." mesa.edu.au/molluscs/molluscs_

  21. I saw a living #chiton down at Rodeo beach this morning, usually just see the remains wash up. The tide was far enough out to see some rock pools and a few of these wonderful creatures.

  24. I don’t usually do reduction prints, but it seems the only sane way to get the registration right and reproduce the pattern. This print is going to need a lot of layers!

"You’d probably walk past a chiton without seeing it. These creatures often look like nothing more than another speck of seaweed. But it sees you. At least, if it’s one of the species with eyes dotting its platemail shell... some of these tough #mollusks sport the most recently evolved eyes with a lens"

  30. A Chiton (possibly Lepidochitona cinerea) and a Common Periwinkle (Littorina littorea), County Clare, Ireland.

  31. Next up in my 2022 favourite photos round-up we have a common chiton (Lepidochitona cinerea). This mollusc come in a variety of patterns and colours and I thought this one was particularly special because of its pink girdle that matches the pink encrusting algae it’s sitting on. You can see the polymorphism (the physical variety) of these guys on my website. I made a database of them!
