"...Along the fire’s main front on the main ridge of the island, water scooping planes dropping saltwater were used on Soledad Peak as the fire has crossed the Main (Soledad) Road there. This action helped cool the fire’s edge and slow progression further to the northwest.
On the west side of the fire, a crew was able to make their way to the South Point Lighthouse and confirm that the lighthouse is still standing.

Looks like there is high possibility they may remove Santa Rosa and San Miguel Island from Channel Islands National Park. (this was attempted in 2016).
(I had colleagues who unfortunately had to deal with a prior Sec . of the Interior in 2016 who wanted to turn the islands into private hunting reserves for the GOP and private donors).
These folks don't think there should be National Parks. They'd like to sell them off to the highest bidder and/or drill for oil/natural resources.
