Hey #fediverse, does anyone know if a.gup.pe and chirp.social has some sort of #API which lists all groups in it? I've just thought of an idea to make this #GoToSocial instance I manage federate even more instances than just 600+ servers, which is to #massfollow them all with a #followbot. Yeah it's a really bad thing to use against normal instances (it's gonna annoy humans behind the accounts), but it shouldn't be a problem if I just follow group accounts, right? ​:sagume_think:​

I'm gonna also try mass following every community in #Lemmy and #kbin as well.

I just had a bit of a look at kbin.social and I have to say, kbin looks really impressive!

If you've never heard of kbin, it's a fediverse platform specifically focusing on groups. Broadly speaking, similar to lemmy, the goal is to create a fediverse take on the reddit experience. However, kbin also integrates fediverse groups like gup.pe, chirp and friendica groups, and that is a killer feature as far as I'm concerned!

We've been running a lemmy instance for a few months now, but it might be time to look at spinning up our own kbin instance too!

It is highly advisable that we always tag at least two similar groups (located on different servers) to ensure continuity of discussions in case one goes down. (If one goes down, then someone needs to create another duplicate located in another server for the exact same reason… continuity and redundancy.)

We may also need to find another groups host, since Guppe service is still down, we only have ChirpSocial, we need to maintain at least two.

To all #StarTrek #AllStarTrek #AllTrek fans, since the #aGupPe #GupPe group is down, I would like to share that there is another group over at #ChirpSocial.

It's @[email protected]. It has been around for a few months already.

I think this downtime brings an important point: we need to post to at least 2 groups hosted in two different servers, to keep the discussions going if one host goes down (temporarily or otherwise).

The Star Trek guppe groups that are currently inaccessible are:

The #GupPe service is currently not boosting/resharing posts for a few hours now. By having another #FediBooks group, if one service goes down, another is still working and discussions can continue.

I created a new group for #Autistics over at #ChirpSocial. This way, if one of the groups are not working (not boosting/resharing posts), one group is still working.

As of this post, it has been a few hours already when the #aGupPe group service stopped boosting/resharing posts.
