So far the Google Find my Device (#Chipolo) I added to my dog's collar is not doing its job at all. I'm at home now and he's at the dog park with my wife. I'm pretty sure some people there have Androids, but all I get on the app is "Last seen at home x:xx PM".

Brainstorming ideas to add a #Chipolo tag (Google's Find Device) to my dog's collar. I'm basing it on a solution with velcro I used many years ago to attach a Nike+ #iPod accessory to a non-Nike running shoe.

Got my Chipolo ONE Point! First impressions: yep, it’s a little Bluetooth item tracker. 😁

Interestingly, it has a button just like the standard Chipolo ONE, but it doesn’t do anything after the initial pairing. No ring-your-phone feature or anything… I wonder if that’s something Google will add to the Find My Device network/spec later? Not a big deal, I almost exclusively trigger that accidentally on my Tiles. 😅

Also, no explicit #HomeAssistant integration. 🤔

The android phone detects the card (after a few tries and a card reset) but says an update of the card is required to connect the card and please contact manufacturer or words to that effect. Start button does nothing. The update can only be done once the card is connected I think. Catch 22 par excellence. Why do people use #apple. That is why people use apple. #bricked

My #Chipolo came! It's way lighter than I expected but I'm not sure why I expected it to be heavier/denser. Setup was super easy and it also supports the new Find My sharing in iOS 17. I was kind of worried that it was limited to Apple-branded Find My items but it worked fine. It is almost exactly twice as thick as this example card (my library card) and it fit in standard wallet slot with no issue.
