  1. In other news - when chipping #buckthorn branches, those things really fight back. My forearms are very well scratched up.

    That weed of a tree grows branches at crazy angles and they're always grabbing at you, hoping to kill you for fertilizer.

    interestingly though, I found the wood to be rather nice for carving - though you don't often have a piece big enough to do much with.

  2. One of my favourite things about #chipcarving is that the mess is so much less than with most other forms of carving. I can carve all day long and fit the scraps in my hand. This project was about 2.5 hours including the layout and painting. 🪆🗝️

  3. A little project this morning, taking shape for an Xmas gift. Feed me!

    I was fascinated to learn the weedy, problem tree/shrub, #buckthorn is a hardwood. It grows so fast and is so ornery, I won't have any hesitation to cut it back for #carving projects in future.
