https://youtu.be/dlI-VGJLTWc?si=9mYiGMA-TGkQBFVDThis is the first time I've heard of Aaron Avshalomov, let alone the 1931 "Hutongs of Peking"; of course, this might reflect ignorance or at least parochialism on my own part rather than any obscurity of Avshalimov.
Oddly enough, I was reminded of another piece of orchestral topographic programme music composed only a few years before, Resphighi's "Pines of Rome".
I wonder how popular or well known this piece is amongst Chinese music lovers today.
The notes by DW in the description section provide helpful biographical information on Avshalimov.

This diagram is designed for Hsüan²-kung (Xuán-gōng, 旋宮) and Fan⁴-tiao⁴ (Fàn-diào, 犯調) practices, including scenes such as Chih-tiao⁴ (Zhī-diào, 之調) and Wei²-tiao⁴ (Wéi-diào, 爲調) transformations. 旋宮 and 犯調 are traditional Chinese modulation or transposition concepts, 之調 and 爲調 are traditional Chinese key notation systems.
AIの指導のもと、私はJavaScript、CSS、HTMLを用いてウェブ版「旋宮図（せんきゅうず）」を構築しました。この図は、旋宮犯調（せんきゅうはんちょう）の実践や、之調（しちょう）・爲調（いちょう）の変換などのシナリオに活用できます。

Yang Yin-liu (1899~1984), courtesy name Liang-qing, art name Er-zhuang, Qing-ru, was a Chinese musicologist and the founder of Chinese ethnomusicology. He recorded and arranged traditional Chinese music, wrote hundreds of monographs and papers, and researched the songs of Jiang Kui of Song Dynasty, compiled a number of folk music collections, and made great contributions to the preservation and development of Chinese ethnic music.紀念楊陰瀏研究員誕辰125週年
楊蔭瀏（1899年11月10日～1984年2月25日），字亮卿，號二壮，又號清如，中國音樂學家，中國民族音樂學的奠基人，曾採錄整理中國傳統音樂，編著《中國古典音樂史稿》《工尺譜淺說》等專著和論文，研究宋代姜夔的歌曲，編著多種民間音樂曲集，對中國民族音樂的保存和發展做出了很大的貢獻。
