Chinese National Arrested in Parañaque City For Selling Illegal Drugs to Undercover Cop

Recently in the City of Parañaque, local police officers successfully organized a buy-bust operation that resulted in the arrest of a Chinese national who sold illegal drugs to an undercover cop, according to a Manila Bulletin news report.

A Chinese national was arrested after selling illegal drugs to an undercover police officer in a buy-bust operation that yielded around P357,000 worth of suspected shabu, ecstasy, cocaine, and marijuana in Parañaque City late Thursday, Aug. 20.

The suspect, identified as Tiger, 40, an online seller and resident of Clark Field, Pampanga, was nabbed at about 11:05 p.m. inside a unit at Marina Seaview Residences in Barangay Tambo.

The operation was conducted by operatives of the Southern Police District-Drug Enforcement Unit (SPD-DEU) in coordination with the Parañaque City Police after identifying Tiger as a high-value individual.

Police said an undercover officer posed as a buyer and completed a drug transaction with Tiger. Backup operatives immediately moved in and arrested the suspect following the transaction.

Police said they recovered four heat-sealed sachets containing approximately 50 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated value of P340,000.

Also seized were eight ecstasy tablets valued at P13,000, one sachet of suspected cocaine worth P3,100, and one sachet of suspected marijuana or kush valued at P900.

Police also confiscated the buy-bust money, an Android mobile phone, and a blue pouch allegedly used to keep the suspected illegal substances.

Chinese National Arrested In Parañaque City For Harassment

Recently in the City of Parañaque, a Chinese national was arrested for harassing a man while carrying a dangerous weapon, according to a Manila Bulletin news report.

Parañaque City police officers on routine patrol arrested a Chinese national Wednesday, July 23, after he allegedly harassed a 35‑year‑old man while carrying a bladed weapon.

City police chief Col. Nicolas Pinon said the suspect, identified as Linagding, 34, a resident of Makati City, was collared on Mayuga Street in Barangay Tambo.

The victim claimed that the suspect confronted him for no apparent reason, shoved him to the ground, attempted to punch him, and drew a fan knife from his pocket.

The victim sought assistance from patrolling Tambo Police Substation officers, who promptly pursued and arrested the suspect. The cops recovered from the suspect a cutter knife.

He was taken to the Investigation and Detective Management Section (IDMS) for documentation and the filing of appropriate charges.

Troublesome Chinese National Arrested In Parañaque City Food Hub

Recently in the City of Parañaque, a Chinese national who caused trouble and damaged several items inside a food hub was arrested by local police officers, according to a news report by the Manila Bulletin.

A Chinese national was arrested after allegedly causing a disturbance at a food hub in Parañaque City while searching for a person he intended to confront, causing panic among customers on Saturday, July 11.

The Southern Police District (SPD) identified the suspect as “Guo,” 34, a resident of Barangay Tambo, Parañaque City. He was arrested at around 9:41 p.m. inside a Pares Hub along Quirino Avenue in Barangay Tambo.

Authorities said Guo entered the establishment shouting and behaving aggressively while looking for a person he wanted to confront, alarming customers and employees.

They added that the suspect’s unruly behavior damaged several items inside the food hub, prompting the management to temporarily stop operations and close the establishment early. Police officers patrolling the area noticed the commotion and arrested the suspect to restore order.

Chinese Fugitives And One Other Arrested In Parañaque City

Recently in the City of Parañaque, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) arrested three Chinese nationals – two fugitives and one overstaying individual – according to the announcement by the authorities.

In line with the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to intensify the country’s campaign against transnational crime and prevent the Philippines from becoming a haven for foreign fugitives, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) arrested two Chinese nationals wanted in their home country for fraud and illegal gambling operations, and apprehended another Chinese national found to be overstaying during the same enforcement operations.

Immigration Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado identified the fugitives as Jiang Yin, 31, and Li Chuang, 34, who were separately arrested by operatives of the BI’s Fugitive Search Unit (FSU) on the evening of June 16 in Parañaque City.

The operations were conducted in coordination with Chinese authorities that provided intelligence information about their crimes.

During the operation against Li, agents also encountered another Chinese national identified as Wang Weixin, 32, whose immigration records showed that he had overstayed in the Philippines and was the subject of an active Hold Departure Order.

According to the Bureau, both Jiang and Li are wanted by Chinese police for allegedly participating in large-scale fraud and illegally operating online gambling activities through the “Qianneng Wallet” application.

Investigators in China alleged that the application was operated by a syndicate, which recruited Chinese nationals to facilitate illegal online gambling.

Authorities further identified the two fugitives as key members of two illegal gambling syndicates, where they allegedly served as supervisors and markers who extended gambling credit and facilitated betting activities.

Immigration records likewise showed that Jiang entered the Philippines in 2019 as a temporary visitor but failed to maintain a valid immigration status, rendering him an overstaying alien. Meanwhile, verification confirmed that Li was already the subject of existing Bureau blacklist and watchlist orders as an undesirable alien and fugitive from justice.

When many people hear discussions about Taiwan, they imagine a distant island caught in a dispute between great powers. For Americans, Europeans, and much of the world, Taiwan is a place on a map thousands of miles away.

For the Philippines, however, Taiwan is not far away at all.

Taiwan sits just north of Batanes. The waters separating Taiwan from the Philippines are narrow enough that any major military conflict in the area would immediately affect the security, economy, and future of the Philippine nation. That reality deserves far more attention than it often receives.

The Geography Cannot Be Ignored

The Luzon Strait, particularly the Bashi Channel between Taiwan and the Philippines, is one of the most strategically important waterways in the world.

Ships moving between the Pacific Ocean and the South China Sea pass through this corridor. Military planners from every major regional power understand its importance. In the event of a Chinese blockade of Taiwan, the Luzon Strait would likely become one of the primary areas of military activity.

Aircraft, naval vessels, submarines, surveillance systems, drones, and missile forces would all be concentrated in or around the region.

For residents of Batanes, the crisis would not be visible on television. It would be occurring just beyond the horizon.

The Philippines Would Not Be A Bystander

There remains a common misconception that the Philippines could simply stay out of a Taiwan crisis.

Unfortunately, geography does not permit such luxury.

More than 100,000 Filipinos live and work in Taiwan. Any conflict would immediately create concerns about evacuation, transportation, humanitarian support, and the safety of Filipino citizens abroad.

Government agencies would be forced to respond. Military planners would be forced to respond. Families throughout the Philippines would be forced to respond.

Regardless of political preferences, the Philippines would be affected from the first day of any major crisis.

Economic Consequences Would Reach Every Province

War does not have to arrive in a community to create hardship.

A disruption of shipping routes through the Luzon Strait would almost certainly affect fuel prices, transportation costs, imported goods, manufacturing supply chains, and regional commerce.

The Philippines imports many of the goods that keep its economy moving. Delays in shipping can quickly become shortages. Shortages become higher prices. Higher prices become burdens carried by ordinary families.

Residents of Manila would feel it.

Residents of Cebu would feel it.

Residents of Leyte and Samar would feel it.

Even those living hundreds of kilometers from the conflict zone would experience its consequences through their wallets, their businesses, and their daily lives.

The West Philippine Sea Is Part Of The Same Story

It is also important to recognize that Taiwan and the West Philippine Sea cannot be viewed entirely separately.

Chinese pressure against Philippine vessels has become a recurring reality. Maritime confrontations, water cannon incidents, disputed territorial claims, and expanding military activity have all contributed to rising tensions.

A crisis involving Taiwan would not emerge from nowhere.

It would occur within an already tense regional environment where sovereignty, maritime rights, and freedom of navigation remain active concerns.

The same strategic pressures affecting Taiwan also influence events throughout the West Philippine Sea.

Preparedness Is Not Provocation

Discussing these risks is not an argument for war.

In fact, the opposite is true.

Understanding the consequences of conflict is one of the strongest arguments for preventing conflict. Nations that understand what is at stake are often more willing to pursue diplomacy, deterrence, and responsible planning.

The goal should always be peace.

Taiwan Is Not Far Away

When many people hear discussions about Taiwan, they imagine a distant island caught in a dispute between great powers. For Americans, Europeans, and much of the world, Taiwan is a place on a map thousands of miles away.

For the Philippines, however, Taiwan is not far away at all.

Taiwan sits just north of Batanes. The waters separating Taiwan from the Philippines are narrow enough that any major military conflict in the area would immediately affect the security, economy, and future of the Philippine nation. That reality deserves far more attention than it often receives.

The Geography Cannot Be Ignored

The Luzon Strait, particularly the Bashi Channel between Taiwan and the Philippines, is one of the most strategically important waterways in the world.

Ships moving between the Pacific Ocean and the South China Sea pass through this corridor. Military planners from every major regional power understand its importance. In the event of a Chinese blockade of Taiwan, the Luzon Strait would likely become one of the primary areas of military activity.

Aircraft, naval vessels, submarines, surveillance systems, drones, and missile forces would all be concentrated in or around the region.

For residents of Batanes, the crisis would not be visible on television. It would be occurring just beyond the horizon.

The Philippines Would Not Be A Bystander

There remains a common misconception that the Philippines could simply stay out of a Taiwan crisis.

Unfortunately, geography does not permit such luxury.

More than 100,000 Filipinos live and work in Taiwan. Any conflict would immediately create concerns about evacuation, transportation, humanitarian support, and the safety of Filipino citizens abroad.

Government agencies would be forced to respond. Military planners would be forced to respond. Families throughout the Philippines would be forced to respond.

Regardless of political preferences, the Philippines would be affected from the first day of any major crisis.

Economic Consequences Would Reach Every Province

War does not have to arrive in a community to create hardship.

A disruption of shipping routes through the Luzon Strait would almost certainly affect fuel prices, transportation costs, imported goods, manufacturing supply chains, and regional commerce.

The Philippines imports many of the goods that keep its economy moving. Delays in shipping can quickly become shortages. Shortages become higher prices. Higher prices become burdens carried by ordinary families.

Residents of Manila would feel it.

Residents of Cebu would feel it.

Residents of Leyte and Samar would feel it.

Even those living hundreds of kilometers from the conflict zone would experience its consequences through their wallets, their businesses, and their daily lives.

The West Philippine Sea Is Part Of The Same Story

It is also important to recognize that Taiwan and the West Philippine Sea cannot be viewed entirely separately.

Chinese pressure against Philippine vessels has become a recurring reality. Maritime confrontations, water cannon incidents, disputed territorial claims, and expanding military activity have all contributed to rising tensions.

A crisis involving Taiwan would not emerge from nowhere.

It would occur within an already tense regional environment where sovereignty, maritime rights, and freedom of navigation remain active concerns.

The same strategic pressures affecting Taiwan also influence events throughout the West Philippine Sea.

Preparedness Is Not Provocation

Discussing these risks is not an argument for war.

In fact, the opposite is true.

Understanding the consequences of conflict is one of the strongest arguments for preventing conflict. Nations that understand what is at stake are often more willing to pursue diplomacy, deterrence, and responsible planning.

The goal should always be peace.

The goal should always be stability.

The goal should always be avoiding a war that would bring suffering to millions of people throughout Asia and beyond.

Taiwan Is Right Next Door

For the Philippines, Taiwan is not a distant foreign policy issue.
