@JimsPhotos one of my favourite birds is the turkey vulture. Here's one I painted a while back. #TurkeyVulture #vulture #PorcelainPainting #ChinaPainting

One of many cattail paintings I made in 2019. China paint on porcelain. #ChinaPainting #PorcelainPainting #cattails #ArtistsOnMastodon #IndigenousCreatives

A tiny painting of Nuliajuk I was working on in 2020. I lost it when everything got shut down during lockdown. I didn't realize this would be my last time china painting. #ChinaPainting #Nuliajuk #Sedna #PorcelainPainting #IndigenousCreatives

This was the last major porcelain painting project I completed. It took about three months to do, painting once a week for several hours. I finished it in November 2019. I lost access to the china painting studio during lockdowns, and I don't own a kiln. I miss the studio and the women I worked with. I haven't seen any of them since. #raven #bird #painting #FineArt #PorcelainPainting #ChinaPainting #IndigenousCreatives #ArtistsOnMastodon

Vulturine Guineafowl I painted in 2018. China paint on porcelain tile. This was nine firings in. #ChinaPainting #PorcelainPainting #birds #BirdsOfMastodon #IndigenousCreatives #ArtistsOnMastodon

I painted these ravens in 2019. #ChinaPainting #PorcelainPainting #ArtistsOnMastodon #IndigenousCreatives #ravens #corvids #birds

Twelve years ago, I finished painting my first teapot. It has a blackberry design. I miss china painting very much. I had to stop when COVID lockdowns shut down the porcelain studio. #ChinaPainting #ArtistsOnMastodon #PorcelainPainting #Teapot #IndigenousCreatives

Painting of cattails I did. China paint on porcelain tile. #ChinaPainting #PorcelainPainting #ArtistsOnMastodon #IndigenousCreatives

It’s been over four years since I last saw this sight. The pandemic ended my china painting. I lost access to the china painting studio and haven’t done porcelain art since. Losing the studio is probably the reason I ended up becoming a fulltime writer. The two floral pieces and the dark trees at the top are my work. #kiln #porcelain #ChinaPainting #artist #Writer

The beginnings of a miniature painting of Nuliajuk I began on this date in 2020. It was my last time in the porcelain painting studio because of COVID lockdowns. I never got this back and didn’t get to complete it. I miss china painting. #ChinaPainting #PorcelainPainting #ArtistsOnMastodon #IndigenousCreatives #Sedna #Nuliajuk

Roses I painted back in 2019. China paint on porcelain tile. #ChinaPainting #PorcelainPainting #ArtistsOnMastodon #roses #IndigenousCreatives

There is a Chinese post on Reddit with this picture. Looks very nice :-)

One of the last porcelain paintings I ever got to make. This is from February 2020, shortly before I forever lost access to the china painting studio because of COVID. I miss porcelain painting very much. #PorcelainPainting #ChinaPainting #ArtistsOnMastodon #BirdNest #Eggs #IndigenousCreatives

A raven I painted in 2019. I think this was my last big china painting before I lost access to the porcelain studio because of COVID. This took me about two months to finish and is painted on porcelain tile. #ChinaPainting #PorcelainPainting #raven #corvid #birds #ArtistsOnMastodon #IndigenousCreatives

Apple. China paint on porcelain tile. I miss painting these. They were quick, fun projects. And I always got a kick out of people reaching to touch them and then being startled that the apple is two-dimensional. #apple #ChinaPainting #PorcelainPainting #IndigenousCreatives #ArtistsOnMastodon

Vulturine Guineafowl. Part of my Ugly Birds series. China paint on porcelain tile. I think it took me about three months to finish. #VulturineGuineafowl #Guineafowl #bird #birds #ChinaPainting #PorcelainPainting #IndigenousCreatives #AnimalPortrait

I just found this mini documentary about the china painters of Kitchener. It’s extra poignant since the pandemic completely shut the studio down. I haven’t seen any of my china painting friends since March 2020 and I also lost a few works in progress. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=_aFKuUjiTo8 #ChinaPainting @waterlooregion #PorcelainPainting #CommunityCentres #Seniors #SeniorsCentres #Art #ArtistsOnMastodon

A painting I did of an ocellated turkey in 2017. Part of my “Ugly Birds” series. China paint on porcelain tile. It took me about three months to do. #ChinaPainting #PorcelainPainting #turkey #NatureIllustration #bird #birds #illustration #IndigenousCreatives

A platter I painted back in 2013. #ChinaPainting #CelticKnotwork #Knotwork #Stags #platter #PorcelainPainting

I painted this potoo a few years ago. China paint on porcelain tile. It took me about three months to complete. When I went to Costa Rica last month, I was very excited to actually see a potoo in the wild. I never even considered I might see one, because they are nocturnal and spend their days excellently camouflaged as bits of dead tree. #potoo #bird #PorcelainPainting #ChinaPainting #NatureIllustration #IndigenousCreatives

A marabou stork I painted a few years back as part of my Ugly Birds series. China paint on porcelain tile. It took me about three months to finish. #ChinaPaint #ChinaPainting #painting #FineArt #MarabouStork #ArtistsOnMastodon #IndigenousCreatives

Raven. China paint on porcelain tile. Just before fourth firing. Painted in early 2020. #ChinaPainting #PorcelainPainting #mountains #OilPainting #raven #SpruceTrees

Shoebill. I painted this in 2015-2016 as part of my “Ugly Birds” series. It took me about three months with all the kiln firings and layers. China paint on porcelain tile. #PorcelainPainting #ChinaPainting #ArtistsOnMastodon #artist #shoebill #painting #OilPainting #bird
