Sometimes I just need to take my mind off things. And what better way to do that than making chilli sauce with a dear friend? 🌶️
A little cooking and a lot of chilli later… somehow things feel a bit lighter.
🌕 Yellow chilli sauce:
Lemon Drop or other yellow chillies, carrots, onion, garlic & oil.
❤️ Red chilli sauce:
Siberian House Pepper, UFO chilli or other red chillies, red pepper, garlic & oil.

@VogueLaGalere I know 😊 These are Dragon’s Breath, one of the hottest chillies.

I found a way to enjoy them with rice without too much heat:

Slice the chilli and remove the seeds.
Add the pieces to the boiling water and simmer briefly.
Remove the chillies, then cook the rice as usual.

The flavour infuses into the rice, while the heat stays manageable. If you’re using milder chillies, you can leave the pieces in. 🌶️

I almost didn’t dare, but I did it: harvesting the chillies! 🌶️

It’s a small harvest because I really want to leave the chillies on the plants for as long as possible and only pick the ones that are truly ripe.

Feeling a bit excited about my chillies! 🌶️ Today, I planted them in the community greenhouse and mulched the soil with straw to keep it from drying out.

Fingers crossed I didn’t plant them too early—weather forecast says it'll drop to 9°C the coming nights!

New sleeproom mates 🌱
Today I welcomed three new chili plants (Sibirian house pepper) into my home. Since the living room is already taken over by lemon drops, dragon breath, and UFO chilies, these little guys earned a spot in my bedroom.
Falling asleep and waking up surrounded by these beautiful plants… not a bad vibe at all.

The warm weather convinced the chillies to grow but this year it’s sloooow 🌱... and only 17 out of 30 seeds have sprouted so far.
Still playing plant detective - Why did only half make it?
Too cold during the day (less heating while I’m out)?
Or did I accidentally use seeds from a hybrid plant?

This year my seeds are clearly on strike. So far, only three brave souls showed up — two Buschpfeffer and one Lemon Drop. The rest are still hibernating.

Apparently 17°C in the living room felt like the Arctic, so I moved them to a “tropical” 19°C. Let’s see if that convinces them it’s time to grow. 🌱
