Rachelle #Burk, an acclaimed #childrensbook #author and avid scuba diver, asked #Rabbi Ed if he would be interested in a #book for young readers to share his love of the Sea and his desire to protect it that she would write. Having written a number of other #Jewish children’s #books including “She’s a #Mensch! Jewish Women Who Rocked the World” and “Space #Torah: Astronaut Jeffrey Hoffman’s Cosmic #Mitzvah,” Rachelle shared with Rabbi Ed that, as a scuba diver, she had always wanted to write a book about the undersea world. Featuring Rabbi Ed and Repair the Sea’s Reverse #Tashlich program would be the perfect way to accomplish that goal."

Come meet Kofi -- a Collard Green #seed with a beautiful story to tell!

In our children’s book Kofi and the Seed Seekers, Froggie, Toto, and Donkey meet Kofi, who tells them about the journey of #CollardGreens from the West Coast of #Africa to #TurtleIsland , and why this plant is so important for culture and history.

We are inviting you to help us make this story come alive!

What will happen?
Meet Razan the Illustrator of this beautiful book and let's help her to refine the concept. We'll do that with the following activities:

Let's read the book together.
Share your memories about food, plants, and cooking.
Talk about what reminds you of home and what your elders or relatives taught you about land and food.

#ArtMaking
Help design Kofi’s friends -- Froggie, Toto, and Donkey.
Create drawings, paintings, and collages inspired by your food stories.
#CulturalCrops Map Wall

Place your food or spice on a big map.
Show where it comes from and how it connects to your life today.

#Food & #Music Sharing
Enjoy snacks together.
Listen to music that celebrates our cultures.
Mini Pop-Up Exhibit
See foods, recipes, and items connected to our stories and history.

Why join us?
Your stories, memories, and art will help shape the Kofi and the Seed Seekers book and our #documentary. Together, we will celebrate food, #migration , and the wisdom of our #cultures.

Language: This event will be delivered in English.
Stroller & wheelchair friendly access. Gymnasium doors will be both left wide open.
Kids must be accompanied & supervised by parent/guardian.

Photos and videos may be taken, if you wouldn't like your photos taken, please let the photographer know. We'll have some processes in place.

Food and Beverage:
Come prepared to indulge in delicious and beautifully presented dishes that evoke the flavors and memories of our homelands. Enjoy complimentary tea and refreshing drinks while you savor the experience.

@Natteheks That reminds me of one of my all-time favourite childrens' books when I was young, "Nature's Smallest Gravedigger". I still have it, so here are some photos from it.

It is all about the life of the American burying beetle, *Nicrophorus americanus*, and, remarkably, it was one in a whole series by Golden Books called Nature's Sanitation Corps.

The book was written by Victoria Cox and Stan Applebaum with illustrations by Dorothea Barlowe and it was published way back in 1974. My Nana gave it to me in 1977 (yes, I'm old).

I still think it's a marvellous book. I like how all the illustrations are accurate depictions of the animals exactly as they are, not simplified down and sanitized for children.
