I haven't read Book 4 of the Dune series since high school. I remember Duncan Idaho dying.
A lot.
Also, Leto II transformed into a human sandworm.
Like I said ... weird. We'll see how it reads as a 50-something adult. #Dune

So because of the artwork I stumbled across last week I did a thing.
Was it a lot of money? Yeah, money I really don't have at the moment given other major projects I've been saving for on the house.
But Hilary Clarcq's art for the Folio Society editions of "Children of Dune" hit me so hard in the feels.

I've been reading the #Dune novels and I came across this quote in #ChildrenOfDune today
Atrocity has no excuses, no mitigating argument. Atrocity never balances or rectifies the past. Atrocity merely arms the future for more atrocity. It is self-perpetuating upon itself — a barbarous form of incest. Whoever commits atrocity also commits those future atrocities thus bred.

In the ending chapters of #ChildrenOfDune and it's got me on the edge of my seat. What an amazing #book . I will have to take a break from the #dune series before I engage in Herbert's final trilogy

I have finished reading Children of Dune. I definitely appreciated it more as an adult.
I’m still digesting it, but feel like the important message is that unless we stop destroying our environment and begin thinking in terms of multiple generations then humanity is doomed. And maybe destroy the things that are polluting the environment until they become too costly to operate. Probably avoid dictatorship though.
Interpretations may vary.

I’ve started reading Children of Dune. I can see why 12 year old me didn’t get far into it, although I definitely read some because I remember a few scenes.
9 year old immortals discussing philosophy in the dunes at night wasn’t something I was ready for.
Not that I am recommending it, but at least adult me appreciates the palace intrigue more.

finally finished #ChildrenOfDune! took a while, maybe a few months, because i kept getting sidetracked (i.e., #StarField).
now that i’m done with the #dune #books that i own, probably going to take a break from that franchise and start on the #theExpanse books that fell into my lap recently. if i like them, i’ll get the rest of the set, but i think this is a good starting point.
and then someday… i’ll resume the dune series. i’m loving them, but god they are dense and heavy. #SciFi #fiction

finished #TheExpanse yesterday! all six seasons in about 10 days.
i really enjoyed it, and i think it’s going to leave a lasting impression on my #SciFi preferences in the future. if/when i finish reading #ChildrenOfDune, maybe i’ll take a break from the #Dune franchise and try out the expanse books.
oh, and i think the #rocinante is high on my list of favorite spaceships now.

Since the start of the pandemic I’ve been listening to the Dune series audiobooks at nights to help me to sleep. Not sure at this point how many times I’ve gone through the first 4 books.

The Children of Dune mini-series that was on SyFy back in the day is now included in Prime Video UK.
I'm hoping that there will be a third Dune film that covers Dune Messiah and Children of Dune.
