Fedizens, do y'all put #chicory in your #coffee or is it just an Indian thing?
(It used to be an adulterant but now people have been made to believe they like it 😢)

And yeah, I've seen urine used for various purposes, but not as a dye mordant... Not for the squeamish!
20 Natural Dye Plants You Can Forage and Grow in Your Garden
By Catherine Winter
Excerpt: "Would you prefer to go a super-natural route, since you’re using plant-based dyes? If you’re aiming to be as self-sufficient as possible, there are also all-organic mordant options as well.
Natural Mordants:
- Sumac: Simmer fresh sumac twigs for about an hour, strain out the twiggy bits, and reduce the liquid by half
- Urine: human urine is ideal for mordanting, but you’ll need to age it. Collect it in a jar and allow it to age for several days. [🤢 ]
- Salt: You can use standard table salt as a mordant, but Kosher salt can yield some of the strongest color-fastness. [I've used that]
- Vinegar [That too]
- Wood ash lye"You’ve probably noticed that some of these are alkaline, and some are acidic. Alkaline mordants tend to work best with plant-based fibers like cotton, linen, and #hemp. In contrast, acidic mordants like vinegar are better with animal fibers like #wool, #alpaca, and #angora.
"Note that if you use an acidic mordant and your colors still run, you can set the color by dipping the fabric in a 50/50 vinegar/water solution. In contrast, if you’ve used an alkaline mordant like lye or baking soda [another one I've used], an acidic solution will strip the color rather than setting it." [Been there, done that!]
Learn more [includes a list of #DyePlants -- does not include #BlackWalnuts though]:

🕶️🤌 Nice broker you have there, it would be a shame if someone put #wasm in it
In-broker #Wasm transforms in @apachekafka with #Chicory and some light low-level patching 🧐
I hope you enjoyed part 1, because this is part 2 😎

I wrote an article about implementing the #Chicory #Wasm compiler backend for Android Dalvik/ART bytecode, tricks to run ART in an unconventional way inside! https://blog.evacchi.dev/posts/2025/07/11/wasm-the-hard-way-porting-the-chicory-compiler-to-android/

Looks like #Chicory... 🙂

Grows along roadsides in the #US and was used as a #coffee substitute during #WW2.

Am I doing it wrong? It looks like runtime-generated, dynamically-loaded DEX files are always interpreted on Android (well, at least on the first run). Thing is, it's pretty easy to overflow the stack of the interpreter. I wonder if there are ways around that...

In the office for work meetings, the dynamic is so different, everyone on the hunt for coffee. Proper caffeination to make it through the day.
I don’t drink Coffee. But I do drink coffee #stout after work.
#aleSmith Speedway New Orleans Cafe
Nutty, coffee, chocolate body, a hint of licorice and slight bitter finish

Also if you wanna hang the coming week, we're hosting a hackathon in SFO (remote attendance too!) I'll be there too!
Join us to talk about #Wasm, #MCP, #AI. I myself will be looking forward to chat about #Java, #Chicory #extism and even #Android! (you're interested in #wazero and #Go too? Be my guest) https://lu.ma/ery1237h
