Is arginine a viable target for #CovalentInhibitor development?
Lately, this topic has seen a lot of movement with the development of new chemoproteomics technologies and warheads. The groups of Balyn Zaro and Ian Seiple now add ninhydrin as a promising warhead to the toolbox to address this question.

Chemical Proteomics without an enrichment step: The group of Jacob Geri with first author Peter Bellotti published a method for residue-specific #chemoproteomics without the need for an enrichment step. To achieve this, they developed reagents that shift the ion mobility of modified peptides for gas phase separation. In my eyes, this is a super exciting concept that could really move the field forward in the future. (2/12)

Very happy that Marnix Roseboom represented our group of the @LED3hub with a very well-attended talk at #NWOCHAINS. He reported on his #PhD work on developing #ChemoProteomics technologies to study #CovalentInhibitor target engagement at arginines.
I hope I could convey some of the great science that was presented in >50 talks at the 3rd International Symposium on Chemical Proteomics and Drug Discovery in Guangzhou.

Amazing talk by Sebastian Essig at #FocusOnCovalentDrugs. He talked about covalent drug discovery with a focus on characterizing novel warheads. Great insights into library design, reactivity profiling and #chemoproteomics for global analysis of selectivity.
He started by talking about the challenge of designing selective kinase inhibitors. Impressive talk by Georgia Andriopoulou from the group of Madeline Kavanagh of the @LED3hub at #Lunteren. She talked about her research into developing new libraries of covalent compounds with tailored properties for #chemoproteomics identification of new therapeutic targets.
Zhang et al. use #chemoproteomics to identify the epoxidase enzyme responsible for #biosynthesis of the #anticancer #drug #camptothecin in Ophiorrhiza pumila.

Very interesting. We recently started with SP3 in our lab and partly it gives amazing results compared to a urea in solution digest. Nevertheless, we also seem to get some inconsistency from prep to prep. So, there might actually be some trickiness to learning or teaching it. We will have to do some troubleshooting. Probably starting with binding and digest.
