  2. The National #Tiger #Conservation Authority (NTCA) has noted the recent movement of two cheetahs that have dispersed from #Kuno #National #Park in Madhya Pradesh to areas in Rajasthan, describing it as natural behaviour. In the coming months, the NTCA will coordinate with the governments of both states to develop a large corridor landscape that encompasses Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, facilitating inter-state movement of the #cheetahs

  3. Cheetahs & Mountain
Mount Kilimanjaro was playing along on my recent safari at the Amboseli National Park in Kenya. I was actually joking before the trip to Kenya that “all I want is a lion or a cheetah in front of Kilimanjaro during sunset…”. And here I was on day one - with a group of cheetahs in front of Kilimanjaro.

  4. The #honeybadger is widespread in #Africa and shares #habitats with #cheetahs. Cheetah #cubs possess a #mane-like, light-colored #fur running down their back, reminiscent of the honey badger, which is highly unpopular with #predators due to its #defensive nature. R. L. Eaton (1976) concluded that the cubs #mimic the honey badger to avoid predation. #mimicry

  7. 💁🏻‍♀️ ICYMI: 🦁🎬 Six months of filming big #cats across #Botswana's #Okavango Delta taught #wildlife cinematographers about the evolutionary advantages hidden in #lions', #cheetahs', and #leopards' most distinctive features.

For example, those dramatic #cheetah tear marks work like athletic eye black to reduce glare during daytime hunts. And #leopard rosettes are disruptive camouflage that breaks up body outlines more effectively than simple spots. Paw-some stuff! 😼

  17. Samburu was not entertaining this time because we failed to spot major animals like, buffaloes, #zebras, #elephants, #leopards and #cheetahs, our tour guide was drunk, one tip for the road and it was fine.

    More to follow

  18. Male #cheetahs and #lions sometimes form bonded groups known as coalitions - I wonder if this is also not that uncommon amongst domestic tom #cats but has gone unnoticed?

I've seen quite a few toms in my garden (and also a Facebook video from a lady who had an entire cat gang in her garden) where they aren't fighting for the territory but not only coexisting together but showing signs of friendship (and do not appear to be litter mates or all from the same house)

these two regularly visit my garden, and seem to patrol as a pair (the ginger cat is friendly and lets me pet him, the ginger and white one runs away but has been getting closer recently

  19. #extinction #cheetahs #Iran

"The Asiatic cheetah is on the brink of extinction. While Iran's authorities promise more protection, critics accuse the government of failing.

    (. . .)

Death of an Asiatic cheetah triggers national outcry

In February 2023, a ten-month-old cheetah named Pirus died of kidney failure in Iran. The case caused great sadness and outrage. The animal species is a national symbol that also adorns works of art. Iran competed in the 2014 and 2018 World Cups with the symbol of an Asiatic cheetah on its jersey.

Iranian environmental and animal rights activists have been warning for years about the extinction of the Asiatic cheetah. A UN project is also working to preserve the subspecies. Numerous environmental activists in Iran have been sentenced to long prison terms in the past for their political activities. Critics accuse the authorities of not doing enough to protect the endangered animals."
