Update. I now *can* get #ChatGPTSearch to give me citations and links to sources, even from the free version. The trick seems to be to have an account and log in.

When I ran a test while logged out, it answered my question but gave no sources or links, even on request. But it added: "Log in to use ChatGPT with full web access."

Another detail: You can ask questions and get answers without logging in. But when you do log in, you get a sidebar listing transcripts of your past sessions, which you can rename, archive, or delete.
