@vurk @HennaVirkkunen My main concern is just EXACTLY who is lobbying the EU Commission.
And how they can persuade that group of people that our rights under the EU charter can be ignored.
And why they want things like #Chatcontrol imposed on us.
It does not tally with the good things that the EU has managed to achieve.
And the Norwegian "Nei to EU" group will name this as a good reason to stay out of the EU forever (even though few people here actually worry about data privacy).

@CassandraK I see another obstacle. If you have to comply with the European #GDPR, I believe, you must avoid including any personal data in emails sent to providers using #ChatControl 1.0.
Are there special regulations that allow Google and other companies to process this data due to legitimate interests?

@HennaVirkkunen So, territorial integrity and sovereignty are fundamental principles of international law according to the EU.
But the "territorial integrity" of my mobile device and my right to personal sovereignty over my photos, videos, chats with loved ones etc are fair game for the EU under the Chat Control 1.0 and the Chat Control 2.0 proposals that the EU is pushing so very hard to get written into law
It is fine to protect Greenland.
But EU citizens want protection too.

I wanted to "reach out" to the author of the article.
But they are not on Mastodon, don't seem to have an email address and we have no other overlapping communication channels.
I know that the EU is working on interoperability of different types of platforms.
It would be useful to see more progress on this, although with the caveat "Be careful when you wish for something".

Y'all. I'm so sick of the narrative that any criticism of the EU is Russian propaganda. I've especially seen it on Reddit but on here as well.
In a democracy, people criticizing political decisions is a feature, not a bug! If the EU make political decisions that I believe are detrimental or dangerous, I have every right to speak out, just like I would if a bad law was voted through in Sweden.
Like #chatcontrol, #ageverification, and #eudi / #digitalid that only runs on two US OSes.
