📸 Between Scylla and Charybdis
Amateur astronomers discovered a faint supernova remnant in Cepheus, now named Scylla. Glowing with red hydrogen and blue oxygen, it’s a rare find. But that’s not all — they also spotted a new planetary nebula candidate nearby, named Charybdis.

Build a bastardkb charybdis, quiet challenging and still need to fix some things. But very excited for the potential. And all parts are open source.

⚓️ #Mythologie #Skylla #Charybdis #Seefahrt #Abenteuer

Made a new #mechanicalkeyboard! It’s a Charybdis Nano designed by bastardkb, and it’s not for me, it’s for @joenash. This time, I #3dprinted the case, but no handwiring - really cool flexible PCBs. It works non-tented too. Do you want a silly keyboard? I like talking about keyboards and soldering stuff, so maybe I can help. Say hi!

I don't understand "risk takers", probably because I've always known horrific things can happen to me, and anyone.
I've been to the crater rim of Mount #Vesuvius, watched Mount #Etna erupting at night while sailing between the #Scylla and #Charybdis, stood at the base of a cloud-shrouded #Arenal, and driven into and walked around inside of La #Soufrière, so I'm not 100% risk averse.
But allowing civilians to visit a #volcano that erupted twice in the six previous years is criminal negligence.

#scylla (the six-headed, sea dragon lady) and #charybdis (a lethal, carnivorous whirlpool) are two of the most prominent #monsters in Hellenic #mythology.
According to the description given in #Homer ‘s #Odyssey Book XII, the legendary sea #creatures are rumoured to inhabit the strait of Messina (between #sicily and #calabria ), lurking in the #mediterranean sea and sinking their victims’ boats before feasting on them.
