Ah here, I was this years old when I heard that Charles Stewart Parnell probably didn’t pronounce his own surname in the way it’s widely applied to Dublin landmarks and roads (par-NELL) but in the same way one might expect to hear in Ireland, with less emphasis on the second syllable (PARN’nell).
