  1. Fringeworthy: Fillable Character Sheets for an interdimensional RPG

Fringeworthy is a science fiction RPG from Tri Tac games. The premise is that in the near future of 2008, scientists discovered an alien installation beneath the Antarctic ice. This installation contained a portal to other versions of Earth in parallel dimensions.

Only a small percentage of people (the titular Fringeworthy) can access these portals. The UN establishes an organization to send teams into the portals to explore the other Earths. It’s basically a cross between Sliders and Stargate SG-1.

This one is crunchy, even for an 1980s game. There are lots of stats, detailed weapon and vehicle rules, and very complex hit location rules. Possibly more than most people would be comfortable with. There are little charts and tables on almost every page. I haven’t actually played it yet, but the rules seem way more complicated than a pulpy setting needs.

While you can still get copies of this game, it’s not exactly active, and there only seem to be a few fan works on DriveThru,

There were three versions of this game 1982, 1984, and 1992. I’ve taken the character sheet for 1992 version, and a more recent color version and made them both fillable. The color version has the ability to add an image to the Character Portrait field.

I’ve added this post to my collection of character sheet posts, and my collection of character sheets for dead RPGs.

  5. A fillable character sheet for Dicey Tales

Dicey Tales is a pulp adventure RPG using the same system as Barbarians of Lemuria and Everywhen

Everything is a 2d6 roll where you add a attribute and career. If you get a 9 or higher, you succeed. It’s a very effective, and fast-moving little system.

I’ve taken the character sheet and made it fillable. I have a version where you can add a picture by clicking the notes box, and another where it’s just text.

  10. Sprawl Goons: Fillable Character Sheets for a cyberpunk RPG

A few years ago, Nate Treme put out a RPG called Tunnel Goons. It’s a simple, light 2D6 system.

You roll a 2d6 and add the value of an attribute to beat a Difficulty Score (DS). It’s a good game for beginners, as there aren’t a lot of rules to memorize.

Tunnel Goons was released under a Creative Commons 3.0 license, so anyone can make their own game using the same system. As a result, there’s an enormous number of hacks based on Tunnel Goons.

One of my favorite of these hacks, is Sprawl Goons from Geist Hack Games. It uses the Tunnel Goons rules to run gritty cyberpunk adventures.

I like it because it’s light, it’s easy to create characters, and it’ll probably be my go-to system if I’m going to run any quick cyberpunk one-shots. It’s also quite inexpensive.

All you need to run the game is the Sprawl Goons: Upgraded book for the main rules, but I’d recommend getting the Sprawl Goons: Booster Pack and the Sprawl Goons:Plug-In Pack for supporting material.

Alternately, all of the books are compiled in the book Sprawl Goons: Upgraded CARBON EDITION

There are two versions of the official character sheet, available for free here. I’ve made fillable versions of each.

  14. Character Sheet for Dark Conspiracy

I’ve been keeping up with the TTRPG Character Creation Challenge Jam over on itch. The idea is that for each day in May, one creates a RPG character.

My project is called 31 Guys in 31 Days. I’ll be generating one new character each and posting it along with a quick description of the game, and how the character was made.

For day four of the challenge, I wanted to make a character for Dark Conspiracy.

Dark Conspiracy was originally published in 1991 by GDW. It’s an action horror game set in a Crapsack World near future Earth. The economy has collapsed, public authority has weakened, and the environment is a mess. Underlying all this is the growing secret influence of otherdimensional and extraterrestrial threats – basically evil monsters.

There’s still quite a bit of fan interest in the game at sites like https://www.darkconspiracytherpg.info/, so I thought I’d have no problem finding a fillable character sheet for DC. I was mistaken.

So I’ve taken the character sheet pages from the original rulebook, made a separate PDF, and made it fillable. You can import an image into the portrait box just by clicking on it.

I’ve also added this page to my ever-growing, unwieldy list of RPG character sheets.

  15. Daredevils – a fillable character sheet for the 1980s Pulp Adventure RPG

Daredevils was an early pulp adventure game from FGU first published in 1982. I’ve had the PDF version in my collection for years, but really never found to time to run, or even read it, despite my love of the pulp genre.

Recently, after a request from Reddit, I’ve taken the character sheet from the PDF version of the book and made it fillable. This gave me the opportunity to look at the book a bit. It looks interesting so far. It’s skill based, a bit crunchy, as FGU games from the eighties tended to be, but it’s no Aftermath. I may actually end up trying a one-shot.

    Here’s the character sheet:

  16. A character sheet for Far West, the Kung Fu Western RPG

I recently ran a one-shot of Far West, the Wuxia/Spaghetti Western mashup RPG. I had fun running it, and even extended the session to a second session.

I’m planning on writing a full review, but for now I wanted to share the character sheet I created for the game. It’s essentially just a printer friendly, fillable version of the character sheet in the rule book.

  17. Kosmos 68 – A character sheet for the Soviet sci-fi setting

One of my absolute favorite RPG settings is Kosmos 68, a sci-fi setting by Paul Eliot for Classic Traveller based entirely on old Soviet sci-fi, mostly old Soviet movies (here’s a YouTube playlist). It’s published by Zozer Games.

It’s set in 2168, in an alternate history where the Soviet Union never fell, developed jump drive (the Stoyanov Drive), and began to settle the stars. The 31-page book details a single subsector, the titular Kosmos 68. Some of the contents are as follows:

    • A quick description of all of the major factions and institutions in the future CCCP.
    • A mysterious sentient alien bug species to serve as antagonists.
    • A subsector map and UWP codes for all of the worlds
    • Capsule descriptions of some of the more interesting worlds. My favorite – Helios, which is essentially the planet from Solaris.
    • Some of the small alterations to Classic Traveller rules to suit the setting.
    • A perilous, mysterious area of space with strange physics, where strange artifacts can be found. It’s a clearly a space opera version of the Zone from Stalker.
    • A short list of patrons with adventure seeds for each.

There was an earlier, free version of Kosmos 68 that’s no longer available (it’s included for free with the DriveThruRPG version). The new version (DriveThruRPG, Lulu), is designed to look like the original Classic Traveller Little Black Books.

The setting has a lot of potential, and the book, though short, has the seeds of a lot of gameable ideas. Some of the setting has been fleshed out at Andrew Boswell’s Kosmos 68 fansite.

I’ve taken my old Classic Traveller character sheet (available here) and updated it to fit the setting. All of the fields are the same, except I’ve removed the noble title, which doesn’t really make sense in the socialist future. Interestingly, the Noble career does exist in the setting, it’s just for Party members, so no titles. A few years, ago I made a different version of a Kosmos 68 sheets. It’s a little more colorful, but I’m not entirely happy with it. (it’s a bit too busy)

My new sheet is fillable, and auto-generates wound boxes and a UPP. I’ve made both A4 and US letter versions.

  20. Tiny Supers – A Custom Character sheet and a cheat sheet

I just ran a one-shot of Tiny Supers, the superhero system using the Tiny D6 system.

I’m quite fond of the Tiny D6 system. Honestly, if I had to nominate a RPG system to be used as an introduction to new players, I’d go with Tiny D6.

There’s an existing character sheet (I made a fillable version of it here) which is fine, but I wanted something that let you import an image, which I think is particularly important for a comic-book based game. So I’ve made a custom sheet.

I also wanted a little more space to enter powers traits, and backgrounds. My new version has the following features:

    • It’s fillable
    • It’ll create boxes for Stress automatically
    • You can import an image.
    • There’s a second page for background information and notes.
    • Both US Letter & A4 sizes are available
    TinySupers_Charsheet_LetterDownload TinySupers_CharSheet_A4Download

I’ve also made a custom cheat sheet with the basic Tiny D6 rules as a handout for the players:

  21. Cepheus Quantum – Quick & Dirty Character sheet

Over on Reddit, I saw a request for a character sheet for Cepheus Quantum, the free, simple one-page version of the Cepheus Engine RPG.

I had a few similar character sheets for various Cepheus games, so I thought I’d quickly modify them to work with Cepheus Quantum. It’s a little thin, but it works. It’s fillable, and will automatically generate Stamina boxes.

I may make a prettier version later.

  23. A self-described “lo-fi space western”, Orbital Blues is a simple 2d6 system, in some ways quite similar to Traveller, with a lot more emphasis on emotional stakes. I recently ran a one-shot and ended up making some custom character sheets.

    The Game

Players in Orbital Blues will be playing low-rent adventurers in a run-down sci-fi frontier.

The three stats are Muscle, Savvy, and Grit. They start off with values from 0-2. Heart is basically hit points. It starts out as Muscle plus eight.

Each character also has Gambits, which are essentially Feats or Stunts.

For most actions, the player makes a Stat Check – roll 2d6, add the appropriate stat. 8+ is a success. Heart points can be spent to add points to a roll, and some rolls will have advantage or disadvantage.

So far, this doesn’t seem wildly different from Traveller/Cepheus Engine games. However, the heart of the game, the thing the makes the game unique, is the system of Troubles and Blues.

Troubles are described in the book as “summations of a character’s past misgivings, misdeeds, vices or regrets.” A number of Troubles are listed in the book. One is selected at character creation. Each trouble has a series of questions attached. New characters need to select two questions to answer. This allows the player to fill out the character’s background, and to provide plot hooks for the GM.

Blues are a measure of the emotional stress a character suffers. Whenever something bad happens, especially if it relates to a character’s Troubles, characters must make a Blues Check – roll 2D6 + Grit. If the roll is 8+, the character gains one Blues point. Each Trouble has a list of events that will cause characters to gain Blues points automatically.

When a character acquires 8 Blues points, they enter a dramatic scene called Trouble is Brewing where they confront the source of their trouble. After the scene, the character advances by doing one of the following: Restore Heart, gain a point in a stat, or gain a new Trouble\Gambit. Blues are then reduced to zero.

The point of all of this is clearly to promote more character-focused, emotional gameplay. The Trouble/Blues system is really interesting, but it seems likely that you need to run a campaign to get the full effect. A one-shot game will probably just feel like a session of Traveller.

There’s also a system of Credits & Debts to keep track of how much money the character has, without doing a lot of accounting. Basically, all you really need to know is – are the players flush or in debt?

    Character Sheet

There’s already a perfectly serviceable character sheet available for Orbital Blues, but I wanted to play around with Affinity and some free fonts I’ve been collecting, so I made some alternate versions. They’re all visually distinct, but have essentially the same fields. They’re also all fillable, and allow you to enter a character image.

Boxes for Heart will be automatically generated. I’ve added this to my aging, rickety list of character sheets.

    OrbitalBlues_CharSheet_BW

This one is probably the most practical one. It’s designed to be printed. Mostly used the Block font for the titles.

    OrbitalBlues_CharSheet_Blue

This one is probably the least practical, and is mostly designed to be a literal version of the title – blue items in orbit. I used a Bauhaus 93 font for the titles.

    OrbitalBlues_CharSheet_Yellow

This one was sort of inspired by industrial safety signs, like you might find on a run-down space station. The title font is blooop.

    OrbitalBlues_CharSheet_Mono_Green

This one was designed to look like a monochrome monitor for online play. It’s based on a character sheet I made for Hostile. The title fonts are OCR-A II.

  24. I’ve been running Mongoose Traveller 2E for a while now, and I haven’t found a MGT2 sheet I’m entirely happy with, so I’ve decided to start making my own. It’s still a work in progress, but I thought I’d post what I have so far with the hope of getting some feedback on the design.

Like most of my sheets, it will be fillable, and will auto-calculate stat modifiers and wound boxes.

Here’s some stuff I’m possibly adding (mostly from the Traveller Companion):

    • Alternate stats – Wealth, Luck, Sanity
    • Wound conditions – minor, major, severe, crippling, etc.
    • More detailed allies & contact sheet
    • Auto checkboxes for PSI
    • It’ll total up the Kg of all of the equipment.

Here’s the 4 page character sheet as it is now. I’d be happy to hear any suggestions or additions.

  28. A while ago, I made some custom character sheets for Classic Traveller. There was a version with red highlights and an imperial logo, and one with green highlights and a Zhodani logo.

I recently decided to make a few more versions for other various empires and Major Races in the Third Imperium.

    The sheets in order:

As with the original version, the sheets are all fillable, will auto-calculate the UPP, and will allow you to import a character image in the upper right corner. Both A4 and US Letter versions are provided.

  33. I recently picked up a physical copy of Cloud Empress, an “ecological science fantasy” RPG from watt. It uses the same ruleset as the popular sci-fi game Mothership

The setting is a magic-poisoned world, with floating cities over a green, but dangerous landscape. This world is threatened by occasional outbreaks of giant magical cicadas, called the Imago, which feast on the bones of dead, and are the source of chalk, the substance that both poisons the land and powers the magic of the setting.

The 58-page book is well designed, with lots of interesting line art giving a nice sense of the world.

    It’s inexplicably free to download.

    Character Sheet

Cloud Empress has its own character sheet, so I won’t be making my own custom version. The official version is attractive and well-designed. It comes in a color & black-and-white version.

However, I wasn’t 100% happy with how the fillable fields were implemented, so I’ve made my own modified version of the official Cloud Empress character sheets. Here are the changes I made to the fields:

    • The stat numbers are now in a Serif Gothic font to match the book formatting and are centered to look a little nicer.
    • The job condition and notes boxes are now set to wrap text.
    • Fixed a small bug in the Skills check boxes.
    • I’ve added the ability to import an image into the portrait frame in the center of the sheet. Just click in the center.

The B&W version wasn’t fillable, so I’ve made it fillable as well. The color version has an off-white background that might be difficult to print, so I’ve made a version without the parchment-colored background.

I’ve added these to my ever-growing swarm of character sheets.
