  1. If you’re familiar with Cantonese congee you’re probably confused by Teochew porridge. Which is plain.

    This is basically what my Teochew family used to eat for lunch daily.

    This Chinese Cooking Demystified video explains it. The trick is to eat it with delicious sides (steamed fish, steamed tofu, preserved vegetables, briny olives etc)
