    It can make a massive difference in so many ways when you discover you're wrong and actually make the effort to work through the discomfort and make changes. Admitting you've been wrong about something takes great courage, and it's worth it. (Apologising to the people you need to pre-emptively helps too with rebuilding trust, respect etc).
