Been blown away so far. Really loving the story telling from different perspectives and the time used to creating fun events that make everything feel alive instead of on rails.
This immense level of character enhancements with a deep mix of strategies at the very start of the game is some of my favorites.
I'm being rewarded for my times exploring and there are lots of interesting places to check out.

Scheinbar bin ich, das war mir gar nicht bewusst, bereits im zweiten Stream dazu gestoßen. Nahm an das wäre erst später geschehen.
Ich erinnere mich, meine erste Reaktion auf das Spiel war "Guten Abend und whoa, was ist das denn hübsches? 2D RPG a la Secret of Mana?".

Den heutigen Abend werde ich dafür opfern #ChainedEchoes durch mein Hardwaresammelsurium zu prügeln. Nicht weil ich unbedingt Lust drauf hätte, viel eher weil ich euch, den lieben Leserinnen und Lesern von #Holarse, Auskunft darüber geben möchte auf welcher Hardware das Spiel gut läuft, gerade so noch spielbar ist oder eben gar nicht erst startet.

Achtung Lobhudelei, was mir über den eigentlichen Kern der Sache hinaus an den beinahe allabendlichen #linuxgaming #livestream von @hatnix (heute mal wieder mit mention) gefällt, ist, dass er beinahe jedes Mal zu Beginn des Streams #Trailer zu Spielen zeigt.
Da lerne selbst ich noch neue Sachen kennen (was keine Kunst ist aber es klingt so positiv notiert!).
Es gab durchaus Dinge die deswegen überhaupt erst im #Drückblick landeten ^^Genau jetzt läuft übrigens der #ChainedEchoes Stream 😉

Wie nervig ist es denn bitte, dass man bei chained echoes unbedingt eine Nebenmission gemacht haben muss um in der Hauptmission weiter zu kommen... Habe echt lange gebraucht um das herauszufinden.
Ich möchte #chainedechoes ja wirklich sehr gerne mehr mögen aber manchmal macht es mir das Spiel auch sehr schwer 😉

Dem @hatnix schaue ich, seit ich es selbst spiele, ja nicht mehr beim Spielen von #ChainedEchoes zu.
Dennoch interessiert es mich jede Woche Freitag aufs Neue wo im Spiel er gerade ist und wie er die ein oder andere Situation meistert.
Ein Zwiespalt.
Da gibt es nur eines: Seinen VOD-Ordner plündern! Gerade so habe ich Folge 01 der Serie noch abgegriffen bevor sie verschwindet.
Irgendwann ist das große Nachholen angesagt.
Voraussichtlich an einem Dienstag oder Mittwoch, da habe ich Zeit 😄 -

Finished #ChainedEchoes (my #GOTY2023) Didn't play much post credits, hoping for the DLC to catch me.
Tipped my toe into #Snowrunner: great game; gifted it to my dad who played through the campaign (I did not).
Abandoned #ApexLegends: It's been very fun 5 years 💜💜🪵
Slightly underwhelmed by the length of #PinballSpire 💜💜💔
Burned brain cycles in #TheCaseOfTheGoldenIdol: fantastic, quirky, challenging 💜💜💜

Here's another idea for video game design: Don't put the tank and healer party members in the late part of the game only, after the player has managed without them and skilled the entire party around this limitation.
At least put in a respec mechanic. Goddammit.

A little update on my #chainedechoes playthrough.
Story is getting much better. Yet the quality of the actual written word remains amateurish at best. It's the first attempt of someone writing dialogue ever and I can tell because it's getting progressively better. Still not great, but bearable (that, or my standards start to drop).
Some dialogues even left me thinking "huh, that was actually pretty good" then the next one tears that down again immediately. I have the feeling it depends at which point the piece of dialogue was written, early on or late in the project. Well, I'm glad it served as a writing exercise with visible progress but I didn't need to witness the whole process. Still, yeah, it could be worse. And the story turns out to be pretty interesting.
The game is a great showcase though to show why it is important to hire a writer for a game. Text is not something you can do as an afterthought.
The game is still f-ing gorgeous though. And the combat remains fun and challenging. If it can keep this up, I can look past it being linguistically challenged.

So, there is this game, Chained Echoes, which I backed long ago. It's been out for years now. Today was the day I finally started playing it (yes, I am unbelievable).
And already I am annoyed by grammar mistakes in the beginning dialogues and an open world that lets me walk into death traps without warning (I hate it when OW games do this, one reason why I'm wary of the genre).
And also, srsly, how can it be that a game from a german developer has better english writing than german? They're both not stellar, but I would have given more if it meant he would hire an editor. Heck, I would have done it, even free of charge if it meant I wouldn't have to grind my teeth when reading the dialogue.
Daedalic did that too in some of their games. It leaves me flabberghasted.
Buuut it is beautiful, like fr, pure eye candy, there is one character I actually like so far, the setting is kinda interesting and the combat mechanics seem enjoyable enough to keep me going. Even though the story is nothing to write home about up to this early point, it is obviously a labor of love (except for the writing). Did I mention it's beautiful? Because that it is.
Sometimes that has to be enough, I guess.
Eh, it's still early in the game. It does look like it deserves the chance to be explored further. Be it just for the pretty pixel art.

Finished #ChainedEchoes and the extra side quests / rewards tree tonight. A fun game! And I much preferred it over #SeaOfStars, which I did like too. Good old RPG fun. I wish there was more to do now that my characters are maxed out, but oh well, I guess it’s time to move on. If anyone can recommend any similar games for the #switch, I’d love to hear about them! Heard good about #OctopathTraveler but it’s quite expensive, so it gotta be really good. Is it?
