  1. Qualcomm introduces Snapdragon X2 Plus chips for cheaper Windows on Arm PCs

Qualcomm introduced its Snapdragon X2 Elite and Elite Extreme processors in September, and the first laptops powered by the next-gen chips are debuting at CES this week, with some set to hit the streets in the coming months.

But Qualcomm is also expanding its lineup of chips for Windows PCs during CES with the introduction of two Snapdragon X2 Plus chips. These are lower-cost, […]

Ryzen AI Pro Max

  5. Asus Vivobook S14 with Snapdragon X and an OLED display coming soon for $799 and up

The Asus Vivobook S14 (S3407QA) is a laptop that comes with a choice of 14 inch FHD OLED or 2.5K IPS LCD displays, 16GB of RAM, and a 1TB SSD.

It’s also one of the first laptops powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon X (X1-26-100) processor made for lower-cost systems. So while this won’t be the cheapest Windows on ARM laptop available when it launches in the coming months, its $799 starting […]

  6. Lenovo’s new Legion Tab is an 8.8 inch Android gaming tablet for $500 and up

Lenovo has been selling Android tablets in China since 2022, and last year the company took its gaming tablets worldwide with the launch of the first Lenovo Legion Tab.

Now Lenovo has introduced a new model: the Lenovo Legion Tab (3rd-gen) features an 8.8 inch, 2560 x 1600 pixel, 165 Hz IPS LCD display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, and up to 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB of UFS […]

  7. UnifyDrive UP6 is a portable NAS with Intel Meteor Lake and a touchscreen display

The UnifyDrive UP6 is a portable computer that’s also a network-attached storage device. Or maybe it’s a NAS that’s also a portable computer.

Either way, it’s an unusual solution that you can use as a PC or file server at home, a portable storage backup device on the go, or even as a (sort of) tablet thanks to the built-in battery and touchscreen display.

Set to launch later this year, the […]

  9. GEEKOM QS1 is the first mini PC with a Snapdragon X Elite processor

Most major PC makers have released laptops with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X processors in the last half year or so. But so far we haven’t seen any desktop computers with the chips unless you count the Snapdragon Dev Kit which was discontinued before it was even made widely available.

And that makes the GEEKOM QS1 the first real desktop computer powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon X series processor. Details about GEEKOM’s upcoming mini PC started to make the rounds last year, but CES 2025 is the official coming out party for this little desktop computer with a Snapdragon X Elite (X1E-80-100) processor.

That chip features 12 Oryon CPU cores with support for single and dual-core speeds up to 4 GHz or multi-core speeds up to 3.4 GHz, a 3.8 TFLOPS GPU, and a 45 TOPS NPU for on-device AI.

The computer pairs that processor with up to 64GB of LPDDR5-8400 memory and the system features support for up to two SSDs:

    • 1 x M.2 2280 PCIe Gen 4×4
    • 1 x M.2 2242 PCIe Gen 4×2

Other features include a fingerprint sensor embedded in the power button, support for WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4, and four digital microphones built into the computer.

    Ports include:

    • 1 x USB4
    • 3 x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A
    • 1 x USB 2.0 Type-A
    • 1 x HDMI 2.0
    • 1 x 2.5 Gb Ethernet
    • 1 x 3.5mm audio
    • 1 x SD card reader

The spec sheet is a little contradictory when it comes to the computer’s physical dimensions: in one spot the system is said to measure 135.5 x 115.5 x 34.5mm, which would be 5.33″ x 4.54″ x 1.36″ if converted from millimeters to inches. But in another spot it’s said to be 4.4″ x 4.4″ x 1.4″. So I’d take the measurements with a grain of salt.

Pricing and availability haven’t been announced yet, but GEEKOM’s partner Solid Pro plans to show off the mini PC this week during CES 2025.

  10. GEEKOM IT15 is a mini PC with up to Core Ultra 9 285H

    The GEEKOM IT15 is a mini PC that measures 135.5 x 115.5 x 34.5mm (5.33″ x 4.55″ x 1.36″) and features support for up to 64GB of DDR5-5600 memory, up two M.2 SSDs, and a 2.5 inch hard drive or SSD.

It’s also one of the first mini PCs announced to feature an Intel Arrow Lake processor. GEEKOM says the little computer will be available soon with a choice of Intel Core Ultra 5 225H or Core Ultra 9 285H processors.

Intel hasn’t actually announced either of those chips yet – but the company will most likely do so during its CES 2025 keynote tomorrow.

GEEKOM spilled the beans in a press release though, revealing that the Core Ultra 9 285H is a 15-core processor with a base CPU frequency of 3.7 GHz and support for max boost speeds up to 5.4 GHz, while the Core Ultra 5 225H is a 14-core chip with CPU frequencies that start at 1.7 GHz and top out at 4.9 GHz.

Both chips are said to feature Intel Arc XE-LPG+A130T graphics.

The GEEKOM IT15 is the latest in a line of Intel-powered from the company. Ian reviewed the Mini IT13 with a Core i9-13900H processor and the GT1 Mega with a Meteor Lake processor, and it looks like the new model has a similar design and feature set to the IT13. But the new model has a slightly larger chassis and an updated processor.

The mini PC has two SODIMM slots for DDR5-5600 memory, an M.2 2280 slot for a PCIe Gen 4×4 SSD, and an M.2 2242 slot that supports SATA storage as well as room inside the case for a 2.5 inch hard drive or SSD.

Wireless capabilities include support for WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4, and ports include:

    • 2 x USB4 Type-C (one with support for USB-PD power input)
    • 3 x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A
    • 1 x USB 2.0 Type-A
    • 2 x HDMI 2.0
    • 1 x 2.5 GbE Ethernet (Intel)
    • 1 x 3.5mm audio
    • 1 x microSD card reader

The mini PC comes with a 120W (19V/6.32A) power adapter and GEEKOM says Windows 11 Pro is pre-installed.

Pricing and availability haven’t been announced yet.
