#Linux for Multi-Linux Mgr formerly known as #suse - manager drives me mad with the #podman ( #docker) migration process .Migrating my Suma4.3 with half a Terrabyte database and all multi mio repository packages to be transformed between 2 servers (old,4 to 5, new). The ssl #certs that should be overtaken from the suma4 can never work because 2 new DNS attribute entries are needed to build the distinct docker network (DB, reportDB). Suse recommends to create temporary self signed certs. ( WTF?)🥴

Thanks to @dhess for showing me how it's possible to add CA certs to tvOS which got the Infuse client working with custom certs. Everything looks great, put Jellyfin's `8096` port on localhost, and `nginx` is doing what it's supposed to: service secure content. Both Apple TVs have the certs installed and both are able to pull content from Jellyfin without issue on port 443 with SSL on. The reverse proxy is only adding about 3 ms of latency, and there's no appreciable change in bandwidth between the server and the devices.
Gonna call this good to go.

If I have one complaint about the Jellyfin ecosystem, it's specifically with the Infuse client. It does a great job, but there is no way to have it accept "self-signed" certificates. I run a local CA and all of my internal servers have certs carved off of it. Unfortunately, Infuse will not connect to the Jellyfin server because of it which kinda sucks. Very annoying...

There's our own local #nextcloud stack running featuring #collabora online and family's impressed so far. #stepca issues the #certs. The #cookbook #app is also nice btw! Next stop trying #AI with #NextcloudAssistant and test other nice things. Since my i3 is operating on it's limits right now, I've purchased an #refurbished #lenovo #thinkcenter core i7 with 16GB RAM being our third #docker host. 💪 #selfhosting #homelab #opensource

@jerry @shellsharks another way to skin the cat is to be a proactive entrepreneur - start a business related to IT work, go local and build a client base and then go national with an idea which will scale. people sometimes think they have to have a genius idea but really you just have to get out there and get started, you will run across many ideas and then you just have to test them, most will fail but some may not. above all advertise - ads work and even if you are just going for a traditional job you are still going to be selling (yourself) - get certs and network and do some fun projects and document them, try to be diversified but ultimately you probably should specialize as well to find the job you are looking for. #break/fix #consulting #ip agg #pentesting #certs #sw stacks #poc #blogging #networking #ads #cv #systems eng #release eng #sales #smb sector #devops #coding #scada #purple team #threat hunting #firmware

Current annoyance: it seems like most certificstion-issuing orgs have settled on Credly for their digital certificate/verification platform. All except OffSec, which has apparently chosen Accredible, so now my OSCP is "digitally separate" from the rest of my certs. Is this really a space that needed multiple competing platforms?

If you ever struggle to get #vaultwarden to work with your brand new #ellipticcurve #certs, here's the relevant part from my #dockercompose, I just can attach a screenshot, for copy & paste just take the values from there: https://rocket.rs/v0.5-rc/guide/configuration/ (See topic TLS).
#rockettls #selfhosting #homelab #ssl #tls #certificates #passwords #passwordmanager #ec #encryption
It works as expected despite said otherwise.

There's one thing about #certs no one talks about - a demonstration of the ability to work within a system, especially one that sucks.
When we interview people, it's not if they can do the job, it's if they can do the job here. Certs are similar.
It's not all about whether you know the material. It's whether you can master and apply the material being presented in a certain way, even if it's communicated poorly or in a confusing way (see MS certs).
It's about operating within a system you don't control, which is needed to be successful at most jobs.
Can it be gatekeepy? Of course. Are some ridiculously priced? We all know it. But people who don't know the roles (HR) use it as a differentiator. And studying for some (Net+ and Sec+) reinforce foundational knowledge.
My $0.10, they're more important early in a career to get into that career, but are superseded by experience later on.

Bad Comptia question of the day. Hint, the "correct" answer is apparently not the actual correct one (TCP connect). Try to guess which wrong answer they are looking for?
