One of our researchers received what appears to be a “management coaching” invoice scam targeting 🇩🇪 German-speaking victims. Here’s an image of the email regarding the “unpaid” invoice (also attached). Several details immediately raised red flags:
🚩 Strange ChatGPT-esque intro: "dear sir/madam [first name]"
🚩 The email thread references messages from Friday, July 30, 2025, but July 30, 2025, was actually a Wednesday (citing a past deadline also adds urgency)
🚩 The invoice mentions a 🇩🇪 German company, yet the bank details are in the UK 🇬🇧
🚩 The sender claims to represent Cloud9 Adv Ltd, which does exist — but was only established in September last year: https://submit.spamhaus.orgThis is a reminder that invoice scams often rely on small inconsistencies that are easy to miss, especially when messages look professional and urgent.

Přímo modelový případ #ceofraud, spear phishingu, který v okamžiku úspěchu může vést až k závratným škodám.
V Thein jsme před pár lety také jeden dostali, podvodník se vydával za Irenu Hýskovou, šéfku Thein Security. E-mail zaslaný finančnímu řediteli obsahoval pokyn k zaplacení 9 850 Euro.

Bude toho více a více. Podvody ve kterých jsou zapojené deepfake. V tomto případě Arup přišel o 25 milionů dolarů.
Novodobá forma #ceofraud.
Schéma podobné jako minule. Video call na kterém se objeví finanční ředitel a další zaměstnanci firmy, všichni ale ve skutečnosti v deepfake podobě.
Celé to začalo phishingem, ve kterém byl zaměstnanec z finančního oddělení požádán o "utajovanou transakci".
Pochyby ztratil právě na výše zmíněné video schůzce. Následně odeslal zhruba 25 milionů dolarů.

"Un cas signalé à l’OFCS la semaine dernière se distingue toutefois de ces attaques de masse. Contrairement à la procédure habituelle, les cybercriminels n’ont pas essayé d’empêcher la victime de prendre contact avec son chef. Bien au contraire. Pour commencer, un avocat supposé a pris contact avec le responsable financier par téléphone et l’a invité à une vidéoconférence avec son chef dans les minutes suivantes. La victime a ensuite reçu un courriel contenant les données d’accès à la réunion. Lorsque le responsable financier s’est ensuite connecté à la conférence en ligne, il a effectivement pu voir son patron à l’écran et lui parler. Au cours de la conversation, le prétendu patron a ensuite tenté d’obtenir le numéro de téléphone portable du responsable financier et de le convaincre de déclencher des transactions financières.Dans ce cas, les cybercriminels ont créé la vidéo du CEO à l’aide de l’intelligence artificielle"

Quite the opposite: the financial officer was contacted by phone by a lawyer and invited to a video conference with his boss, which would begin in a few minutes. The victim received an email with the meeting invitation. When the financial officer then dialled into the online conference, he could actually see someone resembling his boss on the screen and talk to him. During the conversation, the alleged boss then tried to obtain the mobile phone number of the financial officer and persuade him to initiate financial transactions.
In this case, the fraudsters used AI to generate a video image of the boss. "
