  1. I'd noticed a Red-winged Blackbird repeatedly perching on this thin tree for a bit, and then flying away. It took a while, but I eventually managed to get a shot of it taking off.  Patience paid off.  :)

    I've had the good fortune to catch some other birds in flight recently, so they're grouped (flocked?) together in today's post.  These were taken both at my usual haunt, the Center for Urban Horticulture, and another favorite birding spot: Spencer Island.  Happy Flyday!

  3. Took a walk through the Center for Urban Horticulture again recently, and this Marsh Wren was simultaneously the smallest bird I saw and the *loudest*.  The crows were the most numerous and, collectively, louder, but this little guy was punching way above his weight.

    The rabbit, on the other hand, was completely silent and I would have missed it entirely if it hadn't moved.
