Blackbird? False. The lark sings first and the thrush sings best. Obvious.

  4. Talisk, one of my favorite Celtic music trios. The concertina player, Mohsen Amini, was Scotland’s ‘young traditional musician of the year’ a decade or so ago. English mom, Iranian father - brought up in #Scotland. He’s considered the Eric Clapton or Stevie Ray Vaughn of the concertina by many. Here’s a set the band performed at the Jura Scotch distillery on the remote Scottish Hebrides island. youtu.be/gHPKFm3ojvw?is=sxxvn8 #music #MusicVideo #CelticMusic #FolkMusic

  5. If you enjoy #Bluegrass music, and maybe a taste of #CelticMusic on the side, and you’re not already familiar with and listening to Nordic/Scandinavian folk - then you’re in for a treat. I recently penned an essay with lots of links for a bluegrass-loveing friend who wanted to expand his horizons. It features my favorite groups, including Väsen, Ranarim, Dreamer’s Circus…as well as a section on Sami (indigenous) music and singers. It’s a quick read, with links to lots of great #Music 🎶🎻 (edited for accuracy based on Fediverse reader feedback:-)

  7. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Martyn Bennett "Grit" – 2003

A visionary fusion of traditional Scottish folk music and modern electronic production. Drawing on archival recordings of Gaelic singers, Bennett weaves ancient voices together with breakbeats, ambient textures, and contemporary rhythms, creating a sound that feels both timeless and radically forward-looking.
