Grateful for this last run of @triofadolin shows in Long Island, at Columbia University and at TheLocal in Saugerties. We are lucky to do what we do, to explore a very special slice of repertoire, and to be supported by venues and friends in the City and out.

Tomorrow at noon, Corrie Hermann will speak to the #EuropeanParliament about her father, brilliant #cellist and excellent #composer Pál Hermann. He fought the Nazis in the French 23rd Marching Regiment of Foreign Volunteers, was arrested in Toulouse and taken away never to return. His music will be performed tomorrow by Dimitri Malignan and Sam Lucas, who will perform on Hermann's original Gagliano cello.

Frieda Belinfante (1904-1995) was an openly homosexual Dutch cellist & conductor of Jewish descent. During the War, Belinfante joined the same resistance movement as Willem Arondeus and other Dutch homosexuals & artists specializing in forging false identity papers & helping those wanted by the Gestapo into hiding. Belinfonte aided in organizing the 1943 bombiing of the Population Registry in Amsterdam. After the perpetrators were turned in by an unknown informant Belinfante fled Holland, dressed as a man, through Belgium & France to Switzerland. Once the war ended she was able to continue her musical career.
