    E in Italia?

    💡 In famiglia:

    📱 In rete:

Forse.

Buona giornata della celebrazione della vita — oggi e sempre! 🌷🥐

  5. “After months - after years - of chaos and life-threatening situations and people stabbing me for no good reason, we'd somehow managed to find a moment to breathe. That didn't just deserve to be enjoyed. It deserved to be celebrated, held up as proof that the world was a good place and didn't actually need to be destroyed in order for me to have a nap.”

  8. I was nearly done the 90 minute drive to a dear colleague’s spouse’s funeral service and my ex texted me for first time in weeks about the death of one of my musical favorites.

    What a day.

One eulogy (in the church!) did include a guy taking a shot of Jack Daniel’s and tuna juice though so it is a memorable day for good reasons too.

  11. My memory of this evening is the noise. Arriving at my grandparents' house, waiting for uncles and cousins. Going into the kitchen to "steal" something my grandmother had prepared. My grandfather, proud, showing the arrangement of the tables. Meanwhile, seeing my grandmother busy preparing something different for me because she knew I wasn't a fan of the "traditional" menu. I never asked for it, but she knew and did it for me.
Then everyone would arrive, and we would gather around the table. Often with the same jokes - every year, the same, like a ritual. When we were kids, we sat at a separate table. As teenagers, we were gradually "promoted" to the adult table. We sat at the table in groups of 15, 20, sometimes more. Chatting, joking, discussing. Noise. Warmth. Closeness. Life.

Serene years. Years of tragedies that have deeply marked this time of year. But that table was always ready for everyone. Year after year.

Then, little by little, the children who became teenagers grew into adults and started to be less present, caught up in their lives and, later, their new families. And the elderly grew older and, gradually, started to pass away. And not just the elderly, unfortunately.

But the memory of those years remains, of those moments, of that noise – the noise of joy, of family.

Whether tonight or any other night, cherish every single moment with your loved ones, because it is precious and it will remain so for the rest of your life.

And tonight, at BSD Cafe, panettone for everyone! 😆

This vibrant Mexican tradition is a beautiful time to honor and remember our departed loved ones.

Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is a multi-day festival that takes place from October 31st to November 2nd. It's a celebration of life and death, where families create colorful altars, visit cemeteries, and share the favorite foods and drinks of those who have passed.

The holiday has its roots in indigenous Aztec rituals, which were later syncretized with Catholic All Saints' and All Souls' Days after the Spanish conquest. Rather than viewing death as something to be feared, Día de los Muertos embraces it as a natural part of the cycle of life.

During this time, the souls of the dead are believed to return to the living world to visit their families. Celebrants welcome them with marigold flowers, sugar skulls, and other symbolic offerings. It's a joyful occasion to reconnect with loved ones, share memories, and celebrate the enduring power of love.

If you'd like to learn more about this rich cultural tradition, I'd recommend checking out the UNESCO-recognized Intangible Cultural Heritage page on Día de los Muertos.

  15. While telling my Grandma that I've asked my kids to play @SixxAM #LifeIsBeautiful some day at my funeral, she asked the lyrics. After hearing them, she said, "Well, I don't know what the music sounds like, but I'll be dead anyway, so play that for me too." 😆🥰
