  12. Just -6 days to #CCN2024!

Highlighting the through-lines, challenge #3: Insights from well-controlled lab experiments don’t always generalize well to everyday behavior.

    cambridge.org/core/journals/be

There are many proposed solutions to this one. Among them: organizing the technical tour de force required to measure brain activity & behavior “in the wild”.

Do you have a favorite approach to tackle this challenge? Or a paper that speaks to it?

  13. Just -7 days to #ccn2024!

    Challenge 2 + through-line:

Where do we focus to expedite an impactful understanding of the brain & mind? Brains? Minds? Experiences?

    Diverse opinions here:

    One proposal: Interactionist Neuroscience

“The revolution in meso-scale study of circuits in non-human species provides a historical opportunity. However, to fully realize its potential requires integration with human neuroscience”

  14. Countdown to #CCN2024: -8 days!

There, we'll discuss the "through-lines" for brain and mind research. How do we intend to arrive at the type of impactful understanding ultimately required to treat brain and mental illnesses of all types?

    2024.ccneuro.org/keynote-nicol

I'll begin the event with a talk. And then @ivanoransky will lead a townhall where he'll invite you to express your thoughts.

To inspire insights into impediments to progress, I'll post one idea each day, along with one or more proposed solutions. Please chime in!

  15. Big news! A townhall will follow the #ccn2024 talk unpacked in the post below. A chance for you to chime in.

The topic of the townhall: The GrandPlan for brain & mind research. What are the challenges? And opportunities? Particularly with regard to the research arc that culminates in new treatments for brain & mental dysfunction. What do we need to know and how will we figure it out?

Leading the discussion: @ivanoransky, Editor in Chief of @thetransmitter, medical doctor, researcher, journalist & founder of @retractionwatch.

With that CV 🤩, Ivan is (somewhat uniquely) perfect to lead this.
