Around the “Green Whale”, as I’m calling it, there is a #CoastalPath which forms part of a continuous thoroughfare all the way around all of #GreatBritain, into #Devon, #Cornwall and on. Here you can see a sign highlighting two locations: #Porlock and #Poole.

Although not that easy to see in this #photograph, at the other side of the #channel is the #Coast of south #Wales. I couldn’t make out any major towns or cities, unfortunately, although I know #Cardiff is almost due north of the location.

The #Beach at #Minehead is on the southern shore of the #BristolChannel, which eventually leads out to the #IrishSea. The town has this interesting #hill, which reminded me of the #Whale in #TerryGilliam's film #TimeBandits (if you know, you know). It think it’s a very distinctive natural feature.

Here is something I haven’t seen in a while, a #Turntable. Of course, most #PassengerTrains these days have #locomotives at the front and the back and simply run in both directions and turntables tend to be depots and sidings.

There station features a line which has working #SteamLocomotives and you can take a trip to nearby destinations. I suppose it’s for #TrainEnthusiasts, and those interested in a bit of #Nostalgia, #Heritage and #History. I might take a trip on it one day too.

We visited #Minehead yesterday, which is a town on the #NorthSomerset #Coast. Although it’s not that far from where we live, it’s still takes a while to get there as a north-south link is across #Exmoor #hills and there are some pretty narrow roads to traverse. It was a pleasant enough journey and we parked by the railway station.
