#ImaginaryNumbers were the downfall of any hopes I had for a career in science. Algebra was required for a major in any science. You had to not only take it, you had to pass it and my brain just couldn’t do it. Organic chemistry didn’t help either, but I’d already failed algebra twice so I didn’t really put much effort into it, as in studying. But I’ve held onto a broad interest in sciency stuff in general to this day. -

It is for this reason (among others) that I always edit novels in plain text, then smart-quotify the files later during formatting, and then visit every instance of single or double quotes to make sure they have the correct polarity (for “American English”. In other languages #YMMV and #caveatemptor of course.
MS Word is particularly bad at handling word-initial apostrophes with the correct polarity... and ’eaven ’elp you when mixing singles and doubles.

after 5 weeks of emailing, ringing, and absolute tripe i finally have a refund for my meta ray-bans (issued, amusingly, part-wise, 5 separate partial refunds)
after my experiences i would strongly advise against buying glasses from their website. they did not fit and shipped the wrong colour. the fitting issue would have been apparent if there was anywhere near me to try them on, but there wasn't and i decided to chance it. learn from my mistake!
they do not do easy returns on optical goods - they claim it all over the website but when you pick a prescription lens all those claims vanish but no warning is given.
the people i dealt with were lovely but the system is clearly very screwed. it's clear that wearables have a LONG way to go in terms of supporting a range of head sizes.

That Pedal Show on YouTube released a new episode yesterday and it is about 90 minutes exclusively on the Gibson Firebird.
I haven’t quite watched all of it yet, but I’m down to the last few minutes.
Seriously… for the good of society (as well as my bank account) please… whatever you do… don’t let me go near a music store for a few days at least. If I walk into a Guitar Center (or something similar) I am absolutely not going to be able to stop myself and I am 100% walking out of that store with a Firebird.
For the love of all that is good in this universe, don’t let me go into a music store.

- I haven't looked into this myself, but several of them implied 'free' customers would be required to create 'Broadcom accounts' in order to get the 'free' software...This also implies that 'free' customers will have to agree to a TOS that requires agreeing to allow #Broadcom to spy on you, granting Broadcom other rights, or waiving your own rights
