Extra glad I was able to stock up on wet food now. Snowed about 10cm's here, so extra wet food for the next little while.
On the plus side, I know the heated bowls definitely work! Plus, I will be able to test with the Original Catnip Whirlpool and Ice Rink.

2026-02-10 End of Day Report: As other testing is being done on the 11th, I will continue container and materials testing on the 12th with one of the original ice rinks turned into a whirlpool

2026-02-10 End of Day Report: while the weather continued the Tatarian Honeysuckle delay, the materials tests did a lot better. As mentioned in the prelimiary results, the biggest factor there seems to container itself. All of them are too big for the test pool, but it had more use than the test rink despite the catnip in the rink being more accessible.

2026-02-10 Second Interlude Materials Test: tests are out as of 1am. From left to right in the picture from the link post we have: fine mesh inside a Catnip Whirlpool, sheet of ice to continue Tatarian Honeysuckle test, and a pan with a 2 strips of fine mesh. 1 has catnip underneath the mesh, and 3 has catnip onto of the mesh.

Making some good progress with Dorian today. He stepped away from the shelf, as expected, but towards the #CatnipWhirlpool(west) and not towards the hill(east). He was very well hidden, though, as I didn't see him until I had stepped in side and he had stepped out of the shadow to checkout the moved #CatnipIceRink. #SpookyKittiesFerals

Trash Panda Reefer Madness Testing Protocols Thread 1/: As announced a few days ago, the testing protocols for the catnip/alternatives are being revised due to weather. It has been above 0c 20/24hrs for the last few days, and I expect it will be the same for at least the next few days. Thus, I cannot rely on a #CatnipWhirlpool or #CatnipIceRink freezing outside each night. So, I have decided to freeze a sheet of ice in a pan each day, placing it ouside at midnight. #SpookyKittiesSciences

2026-02-02 #SpookyKittiesSciences: very little to report again, as Trash Panda Reefer Madness creeps ever closer. The #CatnipWhirlpool has again seen no use, which is not a surprise. It was above freezing for 21/24 hours, and the pool has melted. The #CatnipIceRInk has also experienced noticeable melting, but it has yet to melt to a point where any of the #SpookyKittiesFerals would notice while rolling on it.

2026-01-31 #SpookyKittiesSciences: With Trash Panda Reefer Madness materials not scheduled to arrive until the 6th, there isn't much to report. The Original #CatnipWhirlpool had no activity today, despite my continuous addition of catnip to it, and only the catnip addict herself half stepped into the new one(to drink). No one even looked into the original. The #CatnipIceRInk, however, had steady activity. It still mostly a solid block, which I suspect helped

At 0000 local time each day, I will bring in each of the boxes to wash. The pools will be have all ice removed, while the rinks will have only the top layer. Each will then be placed back outside, with the 2 #CatnipWhirlpool getting enough water to cover the bottom poured into them, 1 getting the herb of the day sprinkled in to be frozen with the water. Water will be added into the 2 #CatnipIceRink, herb being placed in 1 after it has frozen.

The first thing I will be testing is which of the various herbs each of the #SpookyKittiesFerals like. Each herb will first be tested in a cleaned between each use #CatnipWhirlpool and #CatnipIceRink. Each will be placed where they are now. The rink will be used to determine actual interest, while the pool will determine how attractive it actually is for each cat.
