Catia La Mar -- Last Sunday, June 28, at 1:30 pm, Costa Rican Red Cross officials discovered that 47-year-old Hernán Gil Flores was still alive. A rescue operation was immediately launched and is now approaching 50 hours.
The man is trapped in the rubble on the third basement level of the Galerías Playa Grande shopping center. According to a reports, the area is covered with more than 140 tons of concrete, so rescuers from several countries are working with chisels, as using power tools with the resulting vibrations could cause the structure to collapse.
However, despite all these difficulties, Hernán continues to respond, and rescuers have managed to keep him hydrated.With God's help he will survive.
