  2. I can't help thinking that all these coincidences can't just be coincidence.

For example, this morning Steven was watching a video which featured Norah Jones singing Pink Pony Club, which he's never heard of before in his life. He came downstairs and checked his Mastodon feed, and someone is sharing a performance of Pink Pony Club as the first post he sees. Coincidence?

There was a tiny little caterpillar crawling across my placemat as I'm about to have lunch. I carefully take him outside to put him on the ground and find his twin on our step. I have never seen this particular kind of caterpillar before. And I don't see any others now. Coincidence?

    Too weird.

  3. RE: mastodon.online/@globalmuseum/

#Moths of the #Saturniidae are characterized by #adults that camouflage with closed wings (#mimesis), but perform a #mimicry behavior, when disturbed by presenting their #eyespots. They have stunted/fully reduced #mouthparts and reproduce only. Species of genus #Automeris live mostly in the tropics/subtropics, #caterpillars can look #colorful and #bizarre and are defensive via stinging hairs. Exples: Automeris egeus or A. niepelti. The #caterpillar below might be related.

  4. Love going outside right after it rains. All the little critters come out to explore!

    Met two friends today, a #caterpillar and a #PotatoBug.

    Relatively, we're all small.

  9. Here are a few #horsetail plants, seen on my walk #today (yesterday, actually).

    Plus a wandering "woolly bear" (#TigerMoth) #caterpillar.

Horsetails are 150 million-year-old living fossils that were eaten by - yes! - Jurassic #dinosaurs.

Also, their unique node spacing inspired #JohnNapier in 1614 to invent #logarithms.

Admittedly, some rude US jurisdictions (wtf Oregon...?) classify them as noxious weeds.

But imho this is an amazing plant with a wonderful résumé 💚

  10. I was told this was #AngleShades #Moth #Caterpillar Mid March 2022

Caterpillar ID is not my strong point.
I'm not keen on disturbing them either for a better look.

Hanging out on #Knapweed leaf with #OxeyeDaisy nearby in my urban garden #Wildflowers border.

Looking plump. Moth is a big sized fella. Would be a nice catch for any urban #bats.

Native #Wildflowers are important as are untidy overwintering areas in urban settings for increasing #wildlife.
