Rough week. Thumb still healing from #surgery last month, wrote a reply brief for my #appeal within 3 days, had #cataract surgery, took kitty cat to the ER wearing my eye patch (she's okay now), then got the brief printed and packed up for mailing tomorrow. I need to relax today.

Oogdruk is al een tijdje prima, zelfs met minder medicatie. De operatie om een glaucoom drain implantaat te plaatsen is nu dus niet nodig.

Het oog is wel vaak rood, pijnlijk en geïrriteerd. Blijkt ontstoken te zijn, tot diep binnen in het oog. Daar krijg ik nu druppels voor, die de oogdruk weer kunnen verhogen...

Wat een feest... 🥳🥳🥳

Voorlopig nog niet klaar dus...

Turns out I have a #Cataract in my right eye, and will need surgery in the next five years. I'd noticed a colour balance difference between the two eyes a few years ago, which was probably an early symptom.

“I accompanied my mum to the hospital for a #cataract operation this week. She is really squeamish about eyes & was incredibly nervous, to the point that she had to be given sedation (they don’t normally use that).

Everyone at the hospital was so kind & supportive of Mum and didn’t make her feel silly for being nervous when most people aren’t. After the op when they made her a cup of sweet tea, they made me one too which I thought was also kind as I wasn’t the patient!”

It's a small miracle. He hasn't seen this well in 50 years.
It's not what we expected at all. He thought he wouldn't be able to see properly without rigid gas permeable lenses being fitted in about 4 weeks. If you know the condition #keratoconus then you'll understand why it's been so bad.
This surgeon has performed a small miracle and I could tell by the little smile on his face that he was really pleased with his work.
In 4 weeks they'll reassess, but he's actually driving bare eyed for the first time since he was 18! (Such a relief that I won't have to drive everywhere.)

Second #cataract operation finished successfully. Hopefully this'll give me the full mid and distance vision. It was more sore this time round with additional anesthetic needed.

Day 5 after the first #cataract surgery. The eye is still slightly blurry but I’m told it can take 4 to 6 weeks to settle in. This eye is mid / close range so will be for reading and using the computer.
Post op visit to the eye hospital in a weeks time.

Back at the eye hospital for an ‘emergency check’ on my #cataract operated eye. Having a free issues with flashing lights and floating spots. Both symptoms of possible retina detachment. As I had a small hole in my #retina pre-operation, which evidently was not a concern, extra checks are being done.
Fingers are crossed.

Just to say that as the #cataract surgery recovery is affecting my ability to use the Mac properly I’ll likely not be posting any holiday #photos for a while.
I was hoping to get away with using a pair of old glasses with a lens taken out to give me okayish vision. However the images perceived through each eye differ where the operated eye seems to cock upwards by about 10 degrees or so and the brain has difficulty in reconciling the two images.

The glasses are 4 years old the right view is slightly out of focus anyway.

Putting the two together means using the main computer is nigh on impossible.

Normal usage will hopefully resume soon.

Approved for #cataract surgery. Got a video conference with my surgeon on Thursday evening. Will know the cost and prospective operation dates after that. Fingers crossed.

Okay so I've survived the initial #cataract consultation and have been approved to have the free NHS (Distance or reading) replacement lens done. However, as that would still leave me (maybe) needing slight distance correction via glasses and those would have to be multi-focal to give me medium range & reading capabilities......

So I've booked in with the private arm of the hospital to see what I could get with a multi-range lens replacement. Cost between £1595 - £3500 an eye, but if I went with that option I could well do without glasses completely, which would be miraculous. Next consultancy is on the 15th and we'll see how that pans out.

At SpaMedica going through my pre-operation assessment for #cataract surgery. At stage 4 so far. Waiting on the optometrist next.

Picked up groceries and put them away. Rain off and on all day will keep me pretty much pinned inside the house, but I got some cheap readers while I was out, so I can at least read again after my #cataract surgery. Ordering new specs next week.

Off this morning to have surgery to remove the #cataract in my left eye. Going to be an all day affair, so I gave the goats and chickens extra feed.

Hope they all behave themselves while we're gone!

The two remote lawns that I usually mow on Monday, I was able to do today, so Monday I'll just have the lawns behind my property and I'll be done and can rest before Tuesday's left eye #cataract surgery. Only a couple more weeks in the season!

An interesting observation after I had my #cataract surgery Tuesday:

After I got my right eye cataract fixed, when I took the eye patch off a day later I realized how horribly bright and glaring the yellow font was that I was using on my GoatsLive web site!

It was retina burning bright neon yellow and I was unaware of it since I was only getting about 40% of the available light to my eyes!

My regular viewers and chatters on the site are much happier with it fixed! 😁

Rose enjoyed her head brushing tonight. Both goat were a bit put off by my #cataract sunglasses until I took them off and showed them my face.
