Thanks for everyone last week! I even had a new joiner of the meetup bring some locks for people to play with. Love that!!
We also had a decent turn out at the yearly picnic hosted by @CO_Security. Had some great conversations that I might have neglected a few of you. Sorry.
Hope you all that took a #3dprint enjoyed it. I need to test a few more from those. Maybe even setup a #Catan night.
I also had a lovely rain storm soak me for at least an hour of #bike ride home. Such as life, I will take the rain.

Apparently there was briefly a #data set of #Catan games, but it's gone now.
Does anyone have a copy? And/or know why it was taken down?

I hate Catan but everyone always wants to play it
Perhaps it is because the type of person that organizes game also loves Catan but I hate that game so much. At least Pete seems to dislike it as well

We didn't sell a single copy of #Catan between august and december at the #boardgame store. I proclaimed Catan finally dead!
Yet, it feels like every 3rd game leaving the shelves since the beginning of january is Catan 😑 so ...like a zombie ...it came back
What is it with Catan?
Why do people love it?
It's not even a good game! It limits you to three choices of which only one is good!
Why can't people try new things, like #FarmsRace? I mean, it's literally Catan but with nukes and nonsense!

I’m Jamie, based in Aotearoa New Zealand 🇳🇿I’m an ambivert. I enjoy getting to know people and good conversation, but I’m happiest easing into spaces rather than being the center of attention straight away. I’ll jump into discussions when I know the topic and feel confident holding my own, especially where individual perspectives actually matter.
I love being outdoors: camping, fishing, and long walks to reset my brain.
Indoors, I’m usually bouncing between games (#DnD, #Catan, #LeagueofLegends, #Minecraft, and a soft spot for sandbox / RPG / crafting worlds), food adventures, and whatever media has my attention that week.I like building things, setting systems up, and tweaking ideas that smarter people came up with first, but I’m equally happy just enjoying good design, good food, and good stories. Music-wise I’m all over the place (except country), with a long-standing love for Twenty One Pilots and currently vibing Ren.
Online, I try to avoid performative controversy. I post to start conversations, not win arguments. I like thoughtful interaction and hearing how different people see things. Expect curiosity, questions, and the occasional “what do you reckon?” post.
Coffee in the morning (and a refill before 2pm), night owl by nature 🌙☕

Well, I was out of luck on our #boardgames. Lost miserably at both #Catan and Las Vegas. On the plus side I got to drown my sorrows in Makers 46.
