Spent the last few days visiting dad in his home in the Yungas jungle in the Northwest of Argentina. Such a beautiful wild place! With days of 44-46 celsius and nights of 18-20. The place is reachable directly from Buenos Aires by a 2-hour flight and then an hour by car.
The biodiversity of the region is mostly concentrated here as the rest of the province is more dessert-like. The Yungas jungle has huge population of birds but also medium-size wild cats and other animals, including large spiders.
The jungle is full of wild orchids and cacti, and a large number of local trees: lapachos, mato, palo borracho and others. There’s wild parrots and magpies, and also a ruch variety of small sized colorful birds.
The night sky was incredible! I haven’t seen such a clear sky since the days I lived in the Northwest Argentine’s Patagonia.
Grateful for the opportunity to see my father again, and share with him these days together. Argentina is such a large and beautiful country, I missed it.
